Lili Setyarini, a student of FMIPA UI who is a member of the UI Dancesport Student Activity Unit (UKM), has succeeded in bringing honor to the University through her achievements.

The chemistry undergraduate student, familiarly known as Lilis, succeeded in achieving first place in the Latin Senior 35 category, and second place in the Latin Doctor’s Event category in the 2019 Queen Cup International Dance Championships, which was held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Nelayan Restaurant, Ancol, North Jakarta.

Lilis performed stunningly with her dance partner Octo Irianto, who is an alumnus of the UI Faculty of Medicine.

“Nice to meet you partner “It was new, and I met a lot of new people. I was also nervous because I felt like I hadn’t practiced enough. But I’m grateful to have won in the end. I didn’t expect it,” said Lilis.

The single contingent from FMIPA UI also expressed the hope that dancesport can be more accepted and known by the wider community.

Through the achievements she has just achieved, Lilis also wants to prove that even though she is a chemistry student who focuses on studying the basic sciences of chemistry, both chemical formulas, chemical process analysis, or doing practicals in the laboratory, it does not dampen her enthusiasm to channel her hobby in the field of art which is actually quite contrary to her current academic activities.

Queen Cup International Dance Championships 2019 is an international dance competition held by Dance Indo every year in Jakarta.

The UI Dance Sport Student Activity Unit (UKM) contributed 23 teams to this competition, including Lilis, the only team from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Apart from Lilis and her dance partner, other contingents also won championship titles in other categories, including 2nd place in the Standard Rising Star category, 1st place in the Standard Beginner Syllabus Tango category.
