The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held the 2022 National Olympiad for Higher Education Mathematics and Natural Sciences (ON-MIPA PT) online on Saturday (May 28, 2022). This Olympiad is a government program through the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. This activity aims to encourage increased student achievement, academic ability, insight and love of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (IPA) as well as improving the quality of higher education. There are four competition fields in this prestigious annual Olympiad: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, which began in 2009.

Not only involving participants from FMIPA, ON-MIPA PT 2022 was also attended by participants from various Faculties within UI, namely the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF), Faculty of Nursing (FIK), Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Faculty of Engineering (FT) and Faculty of Public Health (FKM) with a total of one hundred students participating.

The number of participants in each field is 27 for Mathematics, 19 for Physics, 18 for Chemistry, and 36 for Biology. Participants who pass the selection process in each field will represent UI at the regional level.

The event opened with the singing of the song Indonesia Raya which was played via a distributed layer (share screen) in the Zoom Meeting. After that, it was followed by remarks from Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan.

“We know that this activity is a selection activity for participants in the national olympiad in Mathematics and Natural Sciences, which is very important because we have been in a difficult two years of education and scientific development. However, there is still enthusiasm from the mentors and students to continue to strive to improve the quality and achievements of their science in relation to this ON-MIPA. ON-MIPA is an arena for achievements and competitions for students in their respective fields of knowledge. Of course, we hope that representatives from FMIPA or UI can achieve the highest achievements at the National or Regional level,” said Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan in his remarks.

Although the selection process is conducted online, it is hoped that this will not diminish the interest, ability, and honesty of participants. This is achieved through strict and complex procedures. The selection procedures are as follows:

1. Participants must wear neat and polite clothes.
2. Participants access GOLD and perform enroll on course which has been provided.
3. Participants who are late are allowed to take part in the selection process without any additional time.
4. Participants are required to remain involved in breakout roomZoom each area and activate the camera (web camera) until the selection deadline ends.
5. Participants are only allowed to use calculators nonprogrammableand browsing is not allowed.
6. Specifically, participants in the Mathematics field are prohibited from using any form of calculator, or mathematical tables, while working on the questions.
7. During the series of questions, the mobile phone must be turned off (off).
8. Participants answer questions using template answer sheets from the committee that were printed before the selection took place.
9. Answers must be written clearly by hand on the answer sheet using a pen (not a pencil).
10. Participants will work on the questions after they are accessible on EMAS. The time allotted for completing the questions is 120 minutes, with another 30 minutes allocated for uploading the answer sheets.
11. After completing the work, each answer sheet is…scanor photographed and made into one file PDF format with naming format file: Faculty_Field_Participant Name.
12. File Answers are uploaded to EMAS in the “Answer Collection Location” section of each field before 11.30.
13. Participants are not permitted to collaborate with other participants or cheat in any form during the exam. If found cheating, participants will be immediately disqualified.
14. If there are any problems during the selection process, please contact the committee from each test field.

In addition to these regulations, the committee will continue to monitor participants throughout the exam process as a security measure.
