Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) Receives Software Donation from Schlumberger

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Indonesia received a software donation from Schlumberger. This software will be used to develop scientific knowledge in oil and gas exploration and production.

Through the signing of a memorandum of understanding by UI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., and Schlumberger Managing Director Ronny Hendrawan on Friday (13/4) in the meeting room A of the UI rectorate building, this software donation was made.

Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, stated that this agreement demonstrates the Faculty’s commitment to facilitating students, particularly Geophysics students, through support for the development of future oil and gas professional skills in Indonesia.

“This is excellent, because geoscience, particularly geophysics, plays a crucial role in maintaining energy security, particularly in the search for hydrocarbon reservoirs beneath the surface,” he said.

The software that will be utilized by FMIPA UI is Petrel G&G, PetroMod Basin Modeling, Techlog Petrophysical Analysis, GeoX Prospect Analysis, OFM Production Analysis, and Reservoir Simulation (Petrel-Eclipse).

All of this software can be accessed at the Geology and Geophysics Computation Lab, FMIPA UI, Depok campus.

Haris explained that this wasn’t the first time Schlumberger had donated software to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia. Haris continued, explaining that in 2012, Schlumberger donated E&P (Exploration and Production) software.
