Depok, June 12, 2026 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) is opening opportunities for broader academic and research collaboration with the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, through the UI INSIGHT EQUITY 2025/2026 program (International Visiting Professor and Guest Lecture) which took place at the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA UI on June 3–9, 2026.
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., assessed that the program has a strategic role in supporting the internationalization of education and research within the FMIPA UI environment.
“The UI INSIGHT program plays a crucial role in expanding the international network of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UI. Through the presence of visiting professors from internationally renowned universities, students and lecturers can gain broader scientific insights and understand the dynamics of research at the global level,” said Prof. Tito.
According to him, direct interaction with academics from various countries is an important means for the academic community to understand the latest research developments and build a broader collaborative network.
“We hope this kind of collaboration will continue to grow, producing increasingly high-quality research that will have a real impact on society,” he said.
Through this program, FMIPA UI presents Prof. Richard Walton, Professor of Chemistry from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. Prof. Walton is known as a researcher in the field of materials chemistry with a track record of publications and extensive international research collaborations. This activity was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum, S.Si., M.Si., Professor of the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA UI, together with Dr. Yulia Mariana Tesa Ayudia Putri, S.Si., M.Si., lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA UI.
During his visit, Prof. Walton carried out a number of academic agendas, starting from giving a public lecture for FMIPA UI students, sharing research experiences with the academic community of the Chemistry Department, discussing with research groups (research clusters), toured the University of Indonesia campus facilities, and attended a collaborative workshop with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
In addition to academic activities, Prof. Walton also visited the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, and was received directly by Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Sc., in the Dean’s Meeting Room. The meeting discussed various opportunities for strategic collaboration between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Warwick, and the exchange of good practices in research and laboratory management, as well as research development in the field of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), as well as strengthening academic mobility for students and researchers of both institutions.
Also present at the meeting were Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures and General Administration and UI INSIGHT Program Coordinator, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Yulia Mariana Tesa Ayudia Putri, S.Si., M.Si., Assistant Manager for Student Achievement and Ecosystem Development and UI INSIGHT Program Coordinator, Department of Chemistry; and Dr. Asri Oktavioni Indraswari, S.T., M.Sc., Assistant Manager for Curriculum and International Classes.
During the meeting, the two parties also discussed opportunities for doctoral students to undertake international research visits to the University of Warwick. The program offers relatively flexible mechanisms, access to various academic facilities and campus resources, and direct mentoring from research supervisors. This scheme is expected to open more opportunities for FMIPA UI students to gain international research experience while expanding their global academic network.
As a follow-up, FMIPA UI and the University of Warwick will review the status Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Indonesia and the University of Warwick to ensure the sustainability and development of cooperation in the future.
For the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Indonesia (UI), Prof. Walton’s visit provides an opportunity to expand international partnerships and develop a globally oriented research ecosystem. Collaboration with international academic partners is expected to open up opportunities for joint research, knowledge exchange, and human resource capacity building in science and technology.
The UI INSIGHT program is an initiative of the University of Indonesia to enrich students’ academic experiences and broaden global perspectives in the learning process. The program also serves as a platform for strengthening international collaboration between universities, researchers, and academics from various countries.
Through this program, students and lecturers have the opportunity to interact directly with international academics, discuss the latest developments in chemistry, and explore research collaboration opportunities that have the potential to contribute to the development of science and technology.
