Depok, August 28, 2026 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held a Professional Oath-Taking Ceremony for 45 graduates of the first cohort of its Medical Physics Professional Program. The ceremony took place at the Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy Hall at FMIPA UI on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
The professional oath-taking ceremony marked the beginning of the graduates’ professional responsibilities as medical physicists. The event was attended by the Chair of the Medical Physics Collegium, the Chair of the Indonesian Medical Physicists Alliance (AFISMI), the Dean of FMIPA UI, the Head of the Department of Physics at FMIPA UI, as well as religious leaders.
In his remarks, Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., said that the professional oath-taking ceremony was an important milestone for the graduates, particularly as they are the first cohort of the FMIPA UI Medical Physics Professional Program. According to him, the inaugural cohort holds a special position as they are part of the early history of medical physics professional education at FMIPA UI, while also carrying the institution’s name as they practice their profession in society.
He expressed his hope that the graduates would not only carry with them the competencies they acquired during their education, but also uphold their integrity and contribute to the advancement of healthcare services and the medical physics profession.
“Being the first cohort is both an honor and a responsibility. Uphold the good name of FMIPA UI through competence, integrity, and responsibility, and make your best contribution to society,” said Prof. Tito.
In his remarks, Chair of the Medical Physics Collegium Wahyu Edy Wibowo, S.Si., F.Med., M.Si., emphasized the importance of professionalism and commitment among graduates in fulfilling their roles as medical physicists. He also reminded the graduates to continue developing their competencies in line with advances in science and healthcare technology.
Chair of the Indonesian Medical Physicists Alliance (AFISMI) Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, F.Med., congratulated the graduates and expressed his hope that they would carry out their roles wisely in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. According to him, as healthcare professionals, medical physicists will serve as a source of expertise and a point of reference for various issues related to their field.
“AFISMI has high hopes for you. Be a reliable source of expertise that people can turn to with questions in hospitals, and use that trust wisely,” said Lukmanda.
He also emphasized the importance of graduates joining and contributing to AFISMI as part of their moral responsibility to help advance the medical physics profession. He praised the graduates for their hard work throughout their professional education and expressed his appreciation to their parents for supporting them as they returned to pursue further education.
“Uphold the good name of the profession. Thank you for your hard work, and thank you to your parents for their support, which has enabled you to reach this stage,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Department of Physics at FMIPA UI Adhi Harmoko, S.Si., M.Kom., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation to the graduates for completing their professional education. He hoped that the first cohort would serve as a strong foundation for the continued development of the FMIPA UI Medical Physics Professional Program while also contributing to the advancement of the profession in Indonesia.
Next, the oath-taking ceremony was led by the Dean of FMIPA UI and followed by all the newly qualified medical physicists. The ceremony continued with the symbolic signing of the oath by representatives of the graduates from five religious groups—Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, and Confucianism—together with the Dean of FMIPA UI, the Chair of AFISMI, and religious leaders.
The recitation and signing of the oath marked the graduates’ commitment to practicing their profession with the highest standards of ethics, competence, and responsibility to society.
The ceremony then continued with the AFISMI pinning ceremony, during which the Chair of AFISMI presented pins to representatives of the graduates. The pinning symbolized the formal acceptance of the newly qualified medical physicists as members of Indonesia’s professional association for medical physicists.
The Medical Physics Professional Study Program at FMIPA UI was officially launched in April 2025. The program is part of FMIPA UI’s efforts to develop professional education in the field of medical physics while preparing competent and ethical professionals to support healthcare services in Indonesia.
