Collaboration between science faculties has become increasingly important in this era of rapid technological advancement and scientific transformation. In the spirit of strengthening the ecosystem of research and science education in Indonesia, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FMIPA UNJ), signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) covering the fields of education, research, and community service.
The signing ceremony took place at the FMIPA UI Administration Center Building, UI Depok Campus, on Thursday (October 30). The event was attended by the leadership teams from both faculties, with the agreement signed by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, M.Si., Ph.D., and the Dean of FMIPA UNJ, Dr. Hadi Nasbey, S.Pd., M.Si.
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, stated that this collaboration is a strategic step toward strengthening the contribution of universities to the advancement of science at both the national and global levels.
“FMIPA UI has long established a partnership with FMIPA UNJ, and we hope this collaboration will continue to grow. With strong cooperation, research and innovation from universities can become more relevant in addressing the challenges of the times,” said Prof. Dede.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FMIPA UNJ, Dr. Hadi Nasbey, viewed this collaboration as an opportunity to expand academic partnerships and strengthen the quality of science education in Indonesia.
“We warmly welcome this collaboration. By sharing experiences and resources, we can accelerate scientific advancement and produce outstanding human resources ready to compete,” he said.

The collaboration covers various activities, ranging from joint seminars, collaborative research, and human resource capacity building to community service programs. Both faculties are also committed to continuously opening new opportunities for collaboration in line with the Tridharma of Higher Education.
After the signing ceremony, the event continued with a visit to the Parangtopo Laboratory, one of FMIPA UI’s leading research facilities. During the visit, both parties discussed the potential use of laboratory infrastructure to support joint research focused on innovation and practical impact.
Also present at the event were Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan (Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI); Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si., F.Med. (Manager for Partnerships, Ventures, and Alumni Relations); Dr. Dipo Aldila, S.Si., M.Si. (Manager for Research and Community Service); as well as several other officials from both faculties.
The collaboration between FMIPA UI and FMIPA UNJ is expected to serve as a momentum for the emergence of broader research and educational partnerships. With a spirit of collaboration and a strong commitment to the Tridharma of Higher Education, both faculties are determined to produce innovations that not only enrich scientific knowledge but also create a tangible impact on society.
