FMIPA UI and STP UI Strengthen Cooperation in Managing the Energy Conservation Laboratory

Depok — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), has established a collaboration with the Science Techno Park, Universitas Indonesia (STP UI), in the management of the Energy Conservation Laboratory. The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., and the Head of STP UI, Chairul Hudaya, Ph.D., on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at the FMIPA UI Faculty Administration Center in Depok.

The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Tito Latif Indra, stated that this collaboration is a strategic step by FMIPA UI to optimize the utilization of Universitas Indonesia’s laboratory assets so that they not only support academic activities but also deliver tangible impacts for society and industry.

“Praise be to God, today we are carrying out a collaboration between FMIPA and STP UI in terms of utilizing how UI-owned equipment can be commercialized for industry, so that UI can be present and bring benefits to society, with impacts at both the national and international levels,” said Prof. Tito.

Through this collaboration, the Energy Conservation Laboratory is utilized to support education, research, and community service activities, as well as commercial services that are professionally managed through the UI Solution system (solution.ui.ac.id).

Under the agreement, FMIPA UI serves as the technical manager of the laboratory space and supporting facilities, including room operations, waste and hazardous waste (B3) management, administrative services and user reception, laboratory safety, and the promotion of supporting services. FMIPA UI also provides exclusive access to the laboratory space and facilities to ensure optimal utilization of the assets.

Meanwhile, STP UI acts as the party responsible for placing and managing the laboratory assets and bears primary responsibility for funding, ranging from laboratory staff salaries and daily operations to the procurement of consumables, maintenance and infrastructure investment, as well as the promotion and main commercialization of laboratory services.

The Head of STP UI, Chairul Hudaya, Ph.D., emphasized that the synergy between FMIPA UI and STP UI represents a joint effort to strengthen the governance of Universitas Indonesia’s research and innovation assets.

“This synergy represents a concrete step in strengthening the governance of Universitas Indonesia’s research and innovation assets, so that they can be optimally utilized to drive progress in society and industry,” Chairul explained.

The utilization of laboratory assets is carried out to support the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and commercial services under a revenue-sharing scheme between FMIPA UI and STP UI. All activities, transactions, and revenues are recorded transparently through the UI Solution system and can be accessed jointly by both parties.

From a human resources perspective, laboratory staff whose status has been transferred to STP UI employees are fully responsible for the operation and maintenance of laboratory assets, while the laboratory coordinator and other managers who remain FMIPA UI employees continue to be under the responsibility of FMIPA UI. Both parties have agreed to continue coordinating in performance evaluation and human resource capacity development to ensure the quality of laboratory services.

Through this collaboration, FMIPA UI and STP UI hope that the Energy Conservation Laboratory will become a center of excellence that not only strengthens research and innovation, but also enhances Universitas Indonesia’s contribution to national development and industrial competitiveness.
