Depok, June 17, 2026 – Students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), once again achieved outstanding success at the 2026 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education Students (ONMIPA-PT), held at Airlangga University, Surabaya, from June 8–12, 2026.
In the national-level science competition, FMIPA UI students secured five bronze medals and two honorable mention awards in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. These achievements also contributed to Universitas Indonesia earning third place nationally at the 2026 ONMIPA-PT competition.
In the field of Mathematics, three FMIPA UI students were awarded bronze medals: Almaas Sulthonu Alandra, Irfan Hanif Yamashita, and Elizabeth Loretta Willyanta. Meanwhile, in the field of Physics, Rafi Suryo Saputro earned a bronze medal, while Kuncoro Nugroho Sakti Muhyi Mustafa and Ahmad Amartia Nurfiqri received Honorable Mention awards.
In the field of Chemistry, Jason Jayawinata contributed a bronze medal to FMIPA UI’s medal tally.
This achievement also reflects the strength of FMIPA UI’s science competition development ecosystem. In addition to accounting for the majority of award recipients within the Universitas Indonesia contingent, most of the students representing the university at ONMIPA-PT 2026 were from FMIPA UI. They received intensive mentoring from faculty advisors in their respective disciplines throughout the preparation process leading up to the national competition in Surabaya.

All of Universitas Indonesia’s coaches for ONMIPA-PT 2026 were from FMIPA UI, namely Muhammad Imran, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Mathematics), Dewangga Oky Bagus Apriandanu, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. and Dr. Yulia Mariana Tesa Ayudia Putri, S.Si., M.Si. (Chemistry), Dr. Adam Badra Cahaya (Physics), as well as Dr. Retno Lestari, S.Si., M.Si. and Tety Maryenti, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Biology). The presence of these mentors further strengthened the academic and psychological support provided to students throughout the training process and during the national-level competition.
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the students’ dedication and perseverance in successfully advancing through various stages of selection and achieving outstanding results at the national level.
“We extend our congratulations to all members of the contingent who persevered through every stage of the selection process and ultimately achieved success at the national level. This accomplishment is certainly something to be proud of,” said Prof. Tito.
He also expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the faculty mentors who guided and supported the students throughout the training and preparation process.
“We would also like to thank the faculty mentors for their dedication and commitment in supporting our students. This achievement is the result of collective effort and a shared spirit to bring honor to FMIPA UI,” he added.
ONMIPA-PT is an academic competition organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. The competition brings together top students from universities across Indonesia to compete in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Before reaching the national stage, participants were required to pass through a rigorous selection process, beginning at the university level and continuing through the regional level. At the national competition, contestants were assessed through various forms of examinations designed to evaluate their analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and in-depth mastery of scientific concepts within their respective disciplines.
In addition to the achievements of FMIPA UI students, the Universitas Indonesia contingent also earned two gold medals and one silver medal in the field of Chemistry through students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia. Sultan El Shirazy and Aryo Razak won gold medals, while Muhammad Rakhaa Qeyva Arman secured a silver medal.
