FMIPA UI through the Community Service and Empowerment Unit (PPM) was present at the 2024 UI Community Service and Empowerment Festival. In the event themed “Sosia Saintika: Kelindan Asa dalam Karya Anak Bangsa”, which was held from Wednesday to Friday (2-4 October 2024) at the UI Library, Depok Campus, FMIPA UI displayed various superior innovative products created by lecturers and students, over the past three years.
Starting from organic liquid fertilizer, and environmentally friendly compost fertilizer processed from the Parangtopo Laboratory biodigester, FMIPA UI, Ramambu, an environmentally friendly liquid that removes the odor of garbage, Prof. Microbes Science Kit Biology Literacy to introduce microorganisms based on fun inquiries for elementary to high school students, Nutribee, honey bee feed rich in protein and vitamins made from original Indonesian yeast.
There are also Bioactivators that increase the activity of the organic composting process, Chitadyne antiseptics that heal wounds, itching and other skin disorders caused by bacteria, Banyushield antiseptics that kill odor-causing bacteria, and Geodatabase: by name by address which is a management model for increasing the accuracy of geospatial population databases based on high-resolution satellite imagery, which is also displayed in the form of infographics.

Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., said that the community service and empowerment program implemented by FMIPA UI is not only a manifestation of the tridharma of higher education, but also a reflection of a sense of caring and deep connectedness between the academic community and the community.
“The community service programs that we run, are based on a strong sense of concern from the servants. Thus, a strong connection emerges between the servants and the community,” said Prof. Dede.
Moreover, in every community service activity carried out, according to Prof. Dede, a mutually beneficial reciprocal relationship is established, where the community service workers not only provide assistance, but also learn and develop together with the community.
“So this program encourages a collaborative ecosystem that strengthens social ties and improves the quality of life of the community as a whole,” said Prof. Dede.

Meanwhile, the Manager of PPM FMIPA UI Dr. Dipo Aldila, M.Si. explained that throughout 2024, FMIPA UI has organized 27 community service and empowerment programs, with funding support from the PPM UI Directorate, and the 2024 FMIPA UI Community Service Grant.
Dr. Dipo hopes that this activity can expand opportunities for the PPM FMIPA UI unit to establish partnerships with various cross-sectoral parties, namely the government, community organizations, industry, and the private sector. This collaboration, continued Dr. Dipo, can strengthen the impact of the community service program and expand the reach of its benefits.

In addition to displaying various innovations from lecturers and students at each faculty’s booth, the 2024 UI Community Service and Empowerment Festival organized by the Directorate of Community Service and Empowerment (DPPM) was also enlivened by various interesting and useful activities, such as 30 talk show sessions held in parallel for three days, UMKM Bazaar, Competitions, Workshops, Art Performances, and Basic Health Checks & Dental and Oral Consultations.
The 2024 UI Community Service and Empowerment Festival was held by the UI Community Service and Empowerment Directorate (DPPM) unit, as a form of socialization of Community Service and Empowerment programs that have been implemented in 2020-2024. In addition, this program is also intended to foster cooperation between parties from across sectors in order to run and implement the Tri Dharma of higher education, namely Education and Teaching, Research and Development, and Community Service.
The Chief Executive of the 2024 UI Community Service Festival, Widhyasmaramurti, S.S., M.A., said that Sosia Saintika is an abbreviation of three scientific fields, namely social-humanities, science-technology, and health. The three scientific fields synergize to create innovations that are useful and have a broad social impact.
