Depok, June 22, 2026 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), has once again demonstrated excellence in research and innovation. At the Universitas Indonesia Intellectual Property Awards 2021–2026, organized by the Directorate of Innovation and High-Impact Research, Universitas Indonesia, FMIPA UI secured third place in the patent category with a total of 38 patents. This achievement positions FMIPA UI among the faculties with the most significant intellectual property contributions within Universitas Indonesia.
The faculty-level award was received symbolically by Zico Alaia Akbar Junior, Manager of the Research Ecosystem and Impactful Science Commercialization at FMIPA UI, who represented the faculty leadership. The award was presented in recognition of FMIPA UI’s achievements in the management and registration of intellectual property during the 2021–2026 period.
The award presentation took place during the Signing of Cooperation Agreements and Assignment Contracts as well as the Handover of Intellectual Property Certificates, held at the Collaboration Hall, located in the Science Techno Park Universitas Indonesia, Depok, on Friday, June 19, 2026. The event formed part of Universitas Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the university’s innovation ecosystem, promote the commercialization of research outcomes, and enhance intellectual property protection across the institution.
In addition to the faculty-level award, the event also recognized several FMIPA UI inventors who successfully obtained Granted Patent status. The recognition was awarded in appreciation of the researchers’ success in completing the intellectual property protection process and securing officially granted patent rights.
Two FMIPA UI patents received recognition during the event. The first was Patent No. P00202206494, developed by the inventor team consisting of Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum, Endang Saepudin, and Isnaini Rahmawati. The second was Patent No. S00202214056, developed by the inventor team comprising Adi Wibowo, Supriyanto, Sukarno, Adde Nugroho, Eko Kusratmoko, and Supriatna.
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Tito Latif Indra, stated that granted patent status demonstrates that FMIPA UI’s research outcomes not only possess novelty and scientific value, but have also received legal recognition and hold significant potential for application in society, business sectors, and industry.
He emphasized that this achievement is part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to strengthen a productive and impact-oriented research ecosystem, including through the enhancement of scientific publications, the protection of intellectual property, and the promotion of research commercialization and downstream implementation.
“FMIPA UI will continue to promote innovation and intellectual property through strengthening the research ecosystem, fostering collaboration, and advancing research commercialization. We hope this achievement will continue to grow and inspire researchers to produce innovations that are relevant, impactful, and sustainable,” said Prof. Tito.
This achievement is expected to serve as an inspiration for the FMIPA UI academic community to strengthen research collaborations, enhance both the quality and quantity of intellectual property outputs, and develop innovations that address societal needs.
