The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), received a visit from SMA Negeri 1 Sukabumi on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the Prof. Dr. Ir. Soemantri Brodjonegoro Auditorium. The event was attended by around 100 students along with school leaders and accompanying teachers.
The delegation from SMAN 1 Sukabumi was welcomed by the Rector of the University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPUas well as the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si. The welcoming atmosphere was warm, reflecting efforts to strengthen the relationship between higher education institutions and secondary education.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si. emphasized the importance of campus visits as a bridge to introduce the world of higher education, particularly in the field of science, to the younger generation. He hoped that the activity would provide a real picture of learning processes, research, and self-development opportunities within the university environment.

He also stated that the rapid development of science and technology requires the younger generation to have a strong foundation in science. According to him, global challenges in the fields of environment, health, energy, and digital technology demand human resources who are not only academically excellent, but also critical, adaptable, and solution-oriented.
“FMIPA UI has various fields of study such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, and geoscience, all of which contribute to addressing these challenges. We believe that many of you have great potential to become part of the future development of science,” said Prof. Tito.
He also encouraged the students to make the most of the visit by asking questions, engaging in discussions, and getting to know campus life more closely as preparation for continuing their education to a higher level. To the teachers, he expressed appreciation for their dedication in guiding students and emphasized the importance of synergy between schools and universities in producing outstanding future generations.

The next session was filled with a presentation on the profile of FMIPA UI by Annisa Nurul Fitri, a member of the Public Relations team. In her presentation, she explained various aspects of FMIPA UI, including its study programs, university admission pathways, academic achievements of the academic community, research innovations, student activities, and career prospects for graduates in various fields.
This visit is expected to broaden students’ understanding of university life, particularly in the field of science, and to foster motivation to pursue higher education. Furthermore, the activity is also expected to serve as an initial step in building sustainable collaboration between secondary schools and universities in preparing a young generation that is excellent, globally competitive, and contributes to the advancement of science in Indonesia.
