FMIPA UI Recruits the Best Talents for ON MIPA-PT 2026

Depok, April 13, 2026 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), held the university-level internal selection for the 2026 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ON MIPA-PT) on Saturday (April 11, 2026). The event was a collaboration between FMIPA UI’s Student Affairs unit and the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni of Universitas Indonesia, aimed at fostering students’ academic achievements.

The selection, held offline at the Auditorium of the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building of FMIPA UI in Depok, was attended by 118 students from various faculties across Universitas Indonesia. Participants came from FMIPA (84 students), the Faculty of Engineering (13), the Faculty of Medicine (7), the Faculty of Computer Science (5), the Faculty of Nursing (4), the Faculty of Dentistry (2), the Vocational Program (2), and the Faculty of Public Health (1).

The participants competed in four academic fields, namely Mathematics (36 participants), Physics (25), Chemistry (36), and Biology (21). The event began at 09:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) with an opening session attended by the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI, Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D., as well as the Head of the Student Achievement Subdirectorate of the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni of UI, Dr. Retno Lestari, M.Si., along with the organizing committee and supervising lecturers.

The head of the organizing committee, Yulia Mariana Tesa Ayudia Putri, emphasized the importance of integrity in the selection process.

“I hope all participants can take part in this selection process as well as possible, upholding honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship. Let this opportunity be a platform to showcase your best abilities,” said Yulia.

Meanwhile, Retno Lestari, M.Si., expressed appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm in taking part in the event.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and active participation of all students in this year’s ON MIPA-PT selection. This activity is not only a competition, but also a means to develop academic potential, competitiveness, and networking among students across faculties at Universitas Indonesia,” she said.

After the opening session, participants took a 150-minute exam according to their respective fields. The questions consisted of a combination of theory and application, with a level of difficulty aligned with national standards. Throughout the examination, participants showed high enthusiasm in completing the challenging problems.

Based on the selection results, the top five students from each field were selected to advance to the regional level of the 2026 ON MIPA-PT selection.

In the Mathematics field, the five selected participants came from FMIPA, namely Irfan Hanif Yamashita, Almaas Sulthonu Alandra, Bryant Farrel Titanius, Mochamad Alfath Aliandi, and Elizabeth Loretta Willyanta.

In the Physics field, the five selected participants were Kuncoro Nugroho Sakti Muhyi Mustafa (FMIPA), Rafi Suryo Saputro (FMIPA), Ahmad Amartia Nurfiqri (FMIPA), Joanne Henedi Lie (FMIPA), and Muhammad Karim Rabiansyah (FMIPA).

Meanwhile, in the Chemistry field, the participants who qualified were Sultan El Shirazy (Faculty of Medicine), Muhamad Nur Ihsan Arief (FMIPA), Muhammad Rakhaa Qeyva Arman (Faculty of Medicine), Reza Nur Ikhsan (FMIPA), and Aryo Razak (Faculty of Medicine).

In the Biology field, the five top students were Fadli Fathurahman Faizal (FMIPA), Abimanyu Rahmawan Hidayat (Faculty of Medicine), Bimo Hadi Permana (FMIPA), Hannan Ashrawy (FMIPA), and Cassarah Bertha Matakena (FMIPA).

The selected students will participate in an intensive training program that includes problem-solving practice, exam simulations, and in-depth study of their respective fields.

After the Universitas Indonesia selection stage, participants will proceed to the regional selection, which is scheduled for the first week of May 2026. Next, those who qualify will take part in the national selection held on June 8–12, 2026. In particular, for the Mathematics field, high-achieving participants at the national level will have the opportunity to advance to international competitions.

Through this activity, Universitas Indonesia hopes that the participants can deliver their best performance and bring honor to the institution at the 2026 ON MIPA-PT competition.

The ON MIPA-PT competition itself is a program organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, aimed at improving students’ interest, academic abilities, and knowledge in the fields of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Since 2009, this competition has been held regularly and continues to adapt to advances in science and technology. ON MIPA-PT is also aligned with the spirit of Kampus Berdampak in promoting excellent universities through strengthening research and scientific competition, in order to produce a scientific generation that is integrity-driven and globally competitive.
