FMIPA UI Strengthens the Quality of CMPB as the Frontline of Clinical Radiation Safety through a Commitment to Continuous Accreditation

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), officially opened the Onsite Assessment activities for the 2nd Surveillance and Witness conducted by the Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN) for the Center for Medical Physics and Biophysics, Institute of Applied Sciences FMIPA UI (CMPB LST FMIPA UI), on Wednesday (18/2), held at the FMIPA UI Administration Center, Depok.

This assessment activity is part of the ongoing monitoring process for maintaining the laboratory accreditation of CMPB LST FMIPA UI under certificate number LP-1706-IDN, which is accredited for the 2022–2027 period. The witness and assessment were conducted on 18 February 2026 by the assessor team from the Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN) as a periodic evaluation to ensure the consistent implementation of the laboratory’s quality management system and technical competence.

The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., in his remarks reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continuously maintaining and enhancing the quality of testing services as well as the education and training activities carried out by CMPB UI.

“This assessment process serves as a moment for reflection as well as reinforcement of the quality system that has been implemented at CMPB UI. We hope this activity will provide constructive feedback for future service improvement,” said Prof. Tito. He added that accreditation is not merely about fulfilling administrative standards, but rather a form of institutional responsibility in ensuring service quality for the community and stakeholders.

As one of the units under the Institute of Applied Sciences of FMIPA UI, CMPB UI carries out activities that include conformity testing of diagnostic and interventional radiology X-ray equipment, dosimetry services, as well as the organization of nuclear science and technology education and training programs. In its operations, CMPB UI is supported by academic staff from the Medical Physics and Biophysics Division of the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI, along with professional supporting personnel.

The Head of CMPB UI, Prof. Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized that accreditation and periodic monitoring by the Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN) have a direct impact on the public and the healthcare industry.

“CMPB UI, as one of the conformity testing laboratories for X-ray equipment, serves as the frontline of clinical radiation safety, particularly in diagnostic radiology. This accreditation directly ensures that all testing processes and results adhere to best practices,” he explained.

In line with this, the Education and Training Manager of CMPB UI, Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, S.Si., M.Si., F.Med., highlighted the relevance of CMPB UI’s role in medical standardization and safety in Indonesia. According to him, as a university-affiliated testing laboratory under FMIPA UI, CMPB UI serves as a reference (benchmark) for other laboratories.

“In addition to testing services, CMPB UI also conducts training for qualified testing personnel and prepares prospective examiners. This further strengthens the ecosystem of radiation safety and the quality of healthcare services in Indonesia,” he stated.

Through the implementation of this onsite assessment, FMIPA UI hopes that CMPB UI will be able to maintain the accreditation it has achieved while further strengthening professional, accountable, and nationally standardized laboratory governance. The activity also reflects FMIPA UI’s commitment to supporting a credible national conformity assessment system.

Also present at the event were the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI, Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D.; the Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit (UPMA) FMIPA UI, Januar Widakdo, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.; as well as the management team and quality assurance team of CMPB UI.

With the implementation of this assessment, CMPB LST FMIPA UI is expected to further optimize its contribution to the advancement of science, testing services, as well as the enhancement of safety and quality in the fields of medical physics and biophysics in Indonesia.
