Two FMIPA UI students who are members of the Universitas Indonesia Autonomous Marine Vehicle (AMV UI) team, namely Pratama Rachmat (Physics 2018) and Glene Felix Simamora (Actuarial 2020) also contributed to the achievements of the AMV UI team in the international arena in the 14th event.th International RoboBoat Competition 2021. Prestasi tersebut yakni sebagai juara tiga kategori skills video : sensor optimization.
The team under the guidance of Dr. Muhammad Arif Budiyanto, S.T., M.T., Head of the FT UI Shipbuilding Engineering Study Program, carried the HYSUCAT design concept by considering several advantages, including HYSUCAT is much more comprehensive than catamarans or monohulls of comparable size, especially when heavy loads and at high speeds. The performance of the Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) or autonomous surface vessel, is very important for the competition, especially in speed gate mission tasks.
Rachmat and Felix along with 24 fellow students from various study programs across faculties at UI designed a ship named MAKARA MH4 XX. The masterpiece was specially designed to offer extraordinary innovation and performance.
As Head of AI Division, Rachmat plays a role in designing the construction of deep learning models, which are the basic models of artificial intelligence. Deep learning on MAKARA MH4 XX is designed to detect buoys and predict the possibility of obstruction above the arena.
The AMV UI team, which also competed in the same event in 2019, claims that the ship it designed this year has better performance than before, because improvements have been made by embedding a stereo camera system and deep learning on the ship.
“Improving on the 2019 competition, we now introduce a new stereo camera system that is used to calculate angles and distances in three-dimensional fiction. It can empower developers to build sophisticated systems that can understand their surroundings and perform intelligent actions,” quoted a video published on the account channel YouTube RoboNation.
“Furthermore, this new system also introduces a model deep learning which can detect buoys and predict the possibility of obstruction (blockage) above the arena,” added the explanation in the video.
The Skills Video category followed by MAKARA MH4 XX is intended to highlight the performance of autonomous ships in carrying out their missions quickly and precisely with the performance of various integrated input sensors. The integration is displayed in the form of video skills that are collected and then broadcast through the RoboBoat Youtube channel.
To the FMIPA UI public relations team, Rachmat revealed that the detailed delivery of innovation and the editing process were the advantages of the video he worked on with his team.
“If it’s something unique, it seems like No “There are some that are too unique, but I can say that the detailed and clearer delivery of innovation and quality video editing are the plus points in the jury’s assessment,” said Rachmat.
Meanwhile, team member Felix, who is still a new student, admitted that he learned a lot from this competition and hopes that the AMV UI team can continue to excel and even achieve more achievements in the future.

Kompetisi 14th The 2021 RoboBoat Competition was organized by RoboNation, an institution focused on developing robotic technology based in Florida, United States. The competition, which was held from March 29 to June 27, 2021, was successfully attended by 303 participants from Indonesia, Egypt, Israel, Mexico, and the United States.
RoboBoat 2021 was attended by 14 teams from 6 countries with 303 participants. They came from High Schools, Colleges at the Undergraduate level, and Postgraduate level. This victory is comeback from the AMV UI team after a one-year absence from the annual competition.
For additional information, AMV UI (Autonomous Marine Vehicles Universitas Indonesia) is a forum for students who have interests and creative ideas in developing maritime and robotics technology. AMV UI was formed in 2012 under the auspices of the University of Indonesia Robotics Team which develops technology in the field of unmanned ships. Until now, Autonomous Marine Vehicles Universitas Indonesia continues to develop technology in the maritime field.
