Following Comprehensive Improvements, Prof. Dr. Yoki Yulizar was Elected as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, for the 2021-2025 Period.

Depok, November 18, 2021. Yoki Yulizar was elected Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) for the 2021-2025 period during a virtual dean election assessment session on Thursday (11/18). Yoki beat four other candidates: Prof. Alhadi Bustamam, Dede Djuhana, Tito Latif Indra, and Rokhmatuloh.

He brought the vision of “FMIPA UI as a Dignified, Innovative, Inclusive, Independent, and Superior Center for Science and Applied Sciences in Southeast Asia” to this assessment session. To implement this vision, Yoki has several flagship work programs in several areas. In education, he emphasizes programs aimed at building networks and collaboration. This is done through student exchange programs and study trips with international partners.

For governance, Yoki wants to establish a Transformation, Risk Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation (TREM) unit at the FMIPA level to improve research downstreaming and collaboration with industry. “In the area of collaboration, we must amplify the existing networks among our lecturers. When our lecturers and students participate in international activities, they must not only attend but also actively participate in them afterward, so they can follow up on potential research collaborations, exchanges, and other potential collaborations,” Yoki explained his vision during a question-and-answer session.

He will also utilize cost-sharing principles with external partners to manage the infrastructure at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UI and utilize technology to manage faculty facilities. Financially, he aims to increase non-educational revenue by commercializing facilities and monetizing FMIPA UI’s intellectual property. Furthermore, Yoki will implement improvements in several areas he deems crucial to the development of FMIPA UI, such as human resource recruitment, research and innovation, and several programs to strengthen student and alumni relationships.

Yoki Yulizar is a Permanent Professor of Chemistry at FMIPA UI. His areas of specialization are nanochemistry, surface chemistry, and colloid chemistry. He received his undergraduate education at FMIPA UI and then continued his master’s and doctoral degrees in surface chemistry at Osaka University, Japan in 2001 and 2004. Throughout his career, he has received several awards including the best poster award in the national seminar on applied chemistry Indonesia LIPI-Directorate General of HKI in 2011 and the best poster award in The 2000 International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies, in Hawaii, United States. Currently he serves as Vice Dean of FMIPA UI for Venture Resources and Administration, and has served as Head of Sub-Directorate of Community Service, Directorate of Research and Community Service UI in 2007-2010.
