From September 17-20, 2018, the Geosciences Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) participated in the G&G Workshop organized by NExT (NExT Network for Excellence in Training) at Schlumberger. The workshop took place at the Schlumberger Jakarta Learning Center, Wisma Mulia Building, Jakarta.
Nine participants attended the four-day event, representing a combined team of lecturers and researchers from the Geosciences Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia.
Speakers included Ian Arthur Kainama (Geophysicist at Schlumberger Limited), Bayu Wisnubroto (Geomechanics Engineer at Schlumberger), and Joko Sosiawan Trikukuh (Senior Geologist at Schlumberger).
This workshop was held as a follow-up to the collaboration between UI and PT. Schlumberger which has donated license G&G software academic to FMIPA UI on April 13.
This activity includes training and a basic introduction to four software tools commonly used in the oil and gas industry.
The four software tools are Petrel E&P, TechLog, PetroMod, and GeoX by Schlumberger.
Agus Riyanto, as a lecturer in the geology study program of the geoscience department of FMIPA UI, said, the G&G Workshop is very important because the utilization of the functions of the four software includes geophysical modeling, geological modeling, petrophysical analysis, basin modeling, modeling petroleum system, and volumetric calculations are often performed on well exploration data.
It is hoped that after this workshop, lecturers and researchers in the Geosciences Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, will be able to further explore the use of these four software tools. This will allow them to maximize their use to support teaching and research activities.
