Depok, September 10, 2022. For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, the University of Indonesia (UI) held in-person graduation ceremonies for all study program levels and new student welcoming ceremonies. The ceremonies were held for two consecutive days until September 11, 2022.
Slightly different from the face-to-face graduations before the pandemic, the 2021/2022 Academic Year graduation was held simultaneously at multiple locations on the UI campus, namely at the UI Depok Campus spread across several locations, namely the Balairung, the Purnomo Prawiro Multipurpose Hall, the Makara Art Center, the Convention Hall, the halls and open areas of each faculty, as well as the Faculties at the UI Salemba Campus, Central Jakarta.
The graduates at the Hall are representatives from each faculty who earned cum laude honors, while the other graduates attend the procession at their respective faculties. Following the procession ceremony at the Hall, the faculty/school deans/vocational directors send off the graduates from their respective faculties.
At this semester’s graduation ceremony, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), graduated 643 students: 538 undergraduates, 97 master’s graduates, and eight doctoral graduates. Of these, 185 earned cum laude degrees.
Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. in his remarks congratulated the graduates and their parents or guardians, while also expressing gratitude that this semester’s graduation ceremony could take place face-to-face.
However, he urged graduates who were unable to attend the Hall in person not to be discouraged. The Dean stated that the most important thing is to maintain a spirit of optimism as they take on greater responsibilities after graduation, building a better Indonesia using the knowledge they gained during their studies.
“The world of college is a very dynamic one. Campus is the gateway for students to become adults. Therefore, you must be prepared to take on greater responsibilities beyond your college years, so you can contribute, armed with the knowledge you have gained at FMIPA UI,” said the Dean in his speech.
On the same occasion, FMIPA UI also announced its best graduates from each study program.
The event closed with individual photos of graduates with the Dean, and a group photo with the Head of Department and Head of Study Program.
Also present at this event were Professors of FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Terry Mart, Prof. Dr. Dra. Titin Siswantining, DEA, Prof. Alhadi Bustamam, M.Kom., Ph.D., Vice Deans, Managers, Head of Academic Quality Assurance Unit, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Study Programs within FMIPA UI as well as the Chair of ALUNI FMIPA UI.
