Kerja sama yang diwujudkan dalam program&nbsp;<em>Collaborative Australia-Indonesia Program on Sustainable Development and Climate Change<\/em>&nbsp;(CAISDCC) ini telah resmi diluncurkan pada Jumat, 2 November 2018 di Hotel Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acara peresmian tersebut dihadiri oleh Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M. Met. (Rektor UI), Prof. Caitlin Byrne (Direktur&nbsp;<em>Griffith Asia Institute<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Griffith University<\/em>Gary Quinlan AO (Duta Besar Australia untuk Indonesia), Prof. Rachmat Witoelar (Utusan Khusus Presiden untuk Pengendalian Perubahan Iklim), dan Prof. Jatna Supriatna, M.Sc.,Ph.D.(Direktur&nbsp;<em>Institute for Sustainable Earth and Resources<\/em>&nbsp;UI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kerja sama terdiri dari beberapa fokus, yaitu dialog tingkat tinggi antar kedua negara; Kolaborasi Penelitian; Dukungan untuk Penelitian, Mentoring, dan Peningkatan Kapasitas, serta Pertukaran Pelajar Antar Kedua Negara.<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melalui kerja sama ini UI yang diwakili&nbsp;<em>Institute for Sustainable Earth and Resources<\/em>&nbsp;(I-SER) dan&nbsp;<em>Griffith University<\/em>&nbsp;yang diwakili&nbsp;<em>Griffith Asia Institute<\/em>diharapkan akan menghasilkan sejumlah penelitian gabungan antara Indonesia \u2013 Australia dan menghasilkan rekomendasi kebijakan berbasis sains dalam bidang perubahan iklim dan pembangunan berkelanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pemerintah akan menjadi pihak yang memberikan masukan dan menerima hasil kajian tersebut. Muhammad Anis, M.Met, Rektor Universitas Indonesia menyatakan bahwa Indonesia dan Australia telah berkolaborasi dalam sains dan inovasi selama bertahun-tahun. Kedua negara berbagi ikatan yang unik sebagai tetangga di persimpangan maritim Samudra Hindia dan Pasifik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keterlibatan UI dalam kolaborasi CAISDCC merupakan bentuk dukungan UI terhadap upaya Pemerintah Indonesia di dalam pengendalian perubahan iklim. UI sebagai factory of knowledge &amp; expertise diharapkan mampu memberikan masukan dan solusi yang inovatif berkenaan persoalan-persoalan pembangunan berkelanjutan terbentang di depan kedua negara ini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senada dengan Anies, Prof. Dr. Jatna Supriatna, Ketua Institute for Sustainable Earth and Resources (I-SER) menyatakan bahwa kerjasama dalam menangani masalah-masalah pembangunan berkelanjutan dan perubahan iklim sangat diperlukan.  Tidak ada yang dapat bekerja sendiri-sendiri.   Kolaborasi jangka panjang dari kedua negara di berbagai sektor perlu disegarkan dari waktu ke waktu, untuk memenuhi kebutuhan yang terus berubah di kawasan ini, terutama di era perubahan iklim yang tidak dapat diprediksi ini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sekilas tentang I-SER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Institute for Sustainable Earth and Resources (I-SER) dibentuk berdasarkan komitmen Indonesia serta visi Universitas Indonesia untuk menjadi \u201cThe World Class Research University\u201d melalui sains dan riset. I-SER ini dibangun untuk menjawab isu pembangunan berkelanjutan berbasis sains dan riset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Akademisi, Ilmuwan , serta praktisi yang tergabung memiliki peran vital dalam menjelaskan fakta, menciptakan dan membangun solusi untuk membantu menyelesaikan dimensi yang sangat kompleks dari permasalahan perubahan iklim serta kebutuhan dasar pembangunan berkelanjutan secara menyeluruh dari hulu ke hilir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I-SER dalam kerjanya mengadopsi 17 tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan Perserikatan Bangsa- Bangsa dengan membahas kebutuhan untuk mengatasi kenaikan suhu global melalui sains terpaduyang baik. Dengan mengintegrasikan pemahaman kita tentang kepulauan tropis dari berbagai disiplin ilmu, kami mencari solusi lingkungan global berbasis sains untuk mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan wilayah tropika.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebagai wadah akademisi dan praktisi, I-SER yang berkedudukan dibawah lembaga pendidikan FMIPA UI sangat penting untuk turut menyebarkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperlukan dalam mendorong pola konsumsi dan produksi berkelanjutan dan untuk memperbaiki pengelolaan sumber daya alam, pertanian.
