Bencana tersebut terdapat dua yaitu bencana dari geologi dan bencana hidro-meteorologi. Bencana dari geologi yaitu bencana yang disebabkan proses geologi sedangkan bencana hidro-meteorologi ialah bencana yang dapat berasal dari iklim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hal itu diungkap oleh Udi Catur Nugroho (Peneliti Pusat Pemanfaatan Penginderaan Jauh Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (LAPAN)) saat menjadi pembicara dalam UI Geoscience Seminar, yang dilaksanakan oleh Program Studi (Prodi) Geoscience FMIPA UI, Selasa (5\/3) di Gedung B 101 FMIPA UI, Depok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam materi presentasinya yang berjudul \u201cMelihat Indonesia Laboratorium Bencana dari Angkasa\u201d, ia memaparkan, bencana adalah peristiwa atau rangkaian peristiwa yang mengancam dan menganggu kehidupan dan penghidupan masyarakat yg disebabkan baik oleh faktor alam dan\/atau nonalam maupun faktor manusia sehingga mengakibatkan timbulnya korban jiwa manusia, kerusakan lingkungan, kerugian harta benda, dan dampak psikologis (UU No 24 Tahun 2007).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaka tidak semua kejadian seperti longsor disebut bencana karena tergantung dampak\u201d. Imbuhnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bencana, kata Udi sangat berdampak pada masyarakat karena faktor letak geografis Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ia juga menyebut, dibutuhkan manajemen bencana dalam menanggapi bencana yang terjadi, yaitu&nbsp;<em>prevention mitigation<\/em>&nbsp;tindakan berupa mengidentifikasi jenis bencana,&nbsp;<em>preparedness&nbsp;<\/em>tindakan berupa kesiapan sebelum bencana,&nbsp;<em>response<\/em>&nbsp;<em>action<\/em>&nbsp;tindakan berupa kesiapan sebelum bencana, response tindakan berupa fase ketika bencana terjadi dan&nbsp;<em>recovery&nbsp;<\/em>yakni tindakan pasca bencana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lebih lanjut Udi menjelaskan, tantangan bagi Indonesia adalah daerah yang luas dengan luas 1.913.578,68 km2,<sup>2<\/sup>dan jumlah pulau yang banyak yaitu 17.504 pulau. Maka dari itu, digunakan penginderaan jauh yang dapat mencakup wilayah Indonesia yang luas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penginderaan jauh merupakan ilmu dan seni untuk memperoleh informasi tentang suatu objek, daerah atau fenomena melalui analisis data yang diperoleh dengan suatu alat tanpa kontak langsung dengan objek, daerah atau fenomena yang dikaji (Lillesand dan Kiefer, 1979).
