Dalam sidang terbuka promosi doktor, Dimas Haryo Pradana melalui disertasinya mengungkap, bahwa kelompok burung understorey dari hutan sekitar memiliki potensi dalam menurunkan tingkat serangan hama serangga, khususnya melalui pengendalian herbivori daun kelapa sawit di perkebunan sawit rakyat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penelitian dilakukan di perkebunan rakyat di Pulau Rupat, Riau dan Kalimantan Tengah, dan menunjukkan bahwa potensi ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal, akibat rendahnya kelimpahan burung predator di lanskap perkebunan, yang sebagian besar disebabkan oleh degradasi habitat dan fragmentasi hutan di sekitarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sci.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-30-at-08.03.18-1-1024x682.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13045\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studi ini menemukan bahwa burung seperti&nbsp;<em>Centropus sinensis<\/em>, yang dikenal memangsa ulat api \u2013 salah satu hama utama tanaman sawit sulit ditemukan di lanskap dengan tutupan hutan kecil dan tersebar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTemuan ini memberi pesan yang kuat bahwa konservasi tidak cukup hanya dengan menyisakan fragmen kecil hutan di sekitar perkebunan. Dibutuhkan habitat sumber yang cukup luas untuk mendukung keberadaan burung predator alami,\u201d jelas Dimas di hadapan tim penguji dalam sidang promosi doktornya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ia juga menyoroti bahwa keberadaan tumbuhan bawah di perkebunan berpotensi menjadi habitat mikro yang mendukung kehadiran burung, selama dikelola secara selektif dan tidak seluruhnya dibersihkan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Promosi doktor ini berlangsung pada Kamis, 26 Juni 2025, di Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI). Sidang dipimpin oleh Dekan FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., dan didampingi oleh tim promotor yang terdiri dari Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Mufti Petala Patria, M.Sc. sebagai Promotor, serta Nurul Laksmi Winarni, M.Sc., Ph.D. dan Dr. rer. nat. Yasman, M.Sc. sebagai Ko-Promotor. Dimas dinyatakan lulus dengan predikat cumlaude.&nbsp;<em>cumlaude<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sci.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-30-at-08.03.18-1024x682.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13046\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Menurut Prof. Mufti, penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya pendekatan lanskap dalam konservasi keanekaragaman hayati, terutama di kawasan yang telah didominasi oleh penggunaan lahan untuk pertanian dan perkebunan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHasil studi Dimas adalah contoh konkret bagaimana pendekatan ekologi dapat digunakan untuk mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan. Ini bukan hanya tentang menjaga spesies, tetapi juga bagaimana kita bisa memanfaatkan jasa ekosistem yang mereka berikan, seperti pengendalian hama secara alami,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penelitian ini, lanjut Prof. Mufti, memberikan kontribusi penting bagi upaya peningkatan produktivitas dan keberlanjutan kelapa sawit rakyat, sekaligus mendukung penerapan prinsip-prinsip sertifikasi lestari seperti RSPO dan ISPO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dengan pendekatan berbasis ilmu dan data lapangan, riset ini diharapkan dapat menjadi landasan bagi kebijakan tata kelola lanskap perkebunan yang lebih terintegrasi antara produksi dan konservasi.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wild birds from the forest apparently play a crucial, but often underappreciated, role in plantation ecosystems, including oil palm plantations.
