Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang memiliki potensi besar sebagai negara maritim dengan luas garis pesisir mencapai 95.181 KM. Sayangnya, potensi yang dimiliki Indonesia dalam konteks kemaritiman harus menghadapi berbagai permasalahan yang kompleks yang hingga kini belum terselesaikan. Permasalahan seperti kurangnya kepedulian dalam menjaga ekosistem laut, laju pertumbuhan populasi yang tidak diimbangi oleh pertumbuhan ekonomi, termasuk kurangnya kapasitas komunitas pesisir lokal untuk menghasilkan produk olahan laut yang terdiversifikasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secara keseluruhan, penyelesaian isu-isu kemaritiman di Indonesia memerlukan kolaborasi lintas sektor yang kuat antara pemerintah, akademisi, masyarakat sipil, industri, dan media. Selain itu, diperlukan komitmen yang berkelanjutan dalam menjaga dan mengelola sumber daya laut secara bijaksana untuk kesejahteraan jangka panjang bangsa Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berlatar belakang hal itu, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) melalui Departemen Biologi mengambil peran untuk terut serta menggalakkan program keberlanjutan jangka panjang, salah satunya dengan meluncurkan program SustainaBlue, pada Selasa (11\/6\/2024), di Aula Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy FMIPA UI, Depok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SustainaBlue merupakan program kolaboratif Indonesia-Malaysia yang didanai oleh The European Union, dengan melibatkan beberapa universitas di negara Indonesia dan Malaysia yakni Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Universiti Sains Malaysia, University of the Aegean, dan University of Cyprus, serta lembaga-lembaga yang bergerak di bidang lingkungan, konservasi, dan pengembangan sosial ekonomi, diantaranya Symplexis, AEGEANrebreath, University of Cyprus, CSI Center for Social Innovation Ltd., Malaysia Aquaculture Development Association, dan PT. Pandu Bina Sejahtera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adapun fokus dari kegiatan bertajuk \u201cUrgency and Empowerment in a Maritime Country\u201d ini menitikberatkan pada peningkatan peran lembaga pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia dan Malaysia dalam mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dekan FMIPA UI Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. secara resmi meresmikan peluncuran program SustainaBlue. Dalam sambutannya, Dekan menyampaikan bahwa kolaborasi yang terjalin dalam program SustainaBlue harus mampu mengakselerasi peningkatan inovasi di bidang blue economy (ekonomi biru) dan green transition (transisi hijau), sekaligus mengatasi ketimpangan pengetahuan dalam dunia pendidikan, riset, industri, dan yang tidak kalah penting adalah dampak pada pengembangan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKami mengajak seluruh sivitas akademika, pemangku kepentingan, industri dan masyarakat untuk turut berpartisipasi aktif menyukseskan kegiatan sustainablue, sehingga diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam jaringan kolaborasi penta helix, guna mempercepat upaya pengembangan blue economy dan green transition yang merupakan bagian dari program pemerintah,\u201d kata Prof. Dede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D. selaku ketua Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI menjelaskan bahwa masyarakat Indonesia perlu memahami dan mengakui pentingnya laut sebagai wilayah yang menyatukan Indonesia, sebagaimana Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmaja dan jejak pemikiran maritim Indonesia yang dilahirkannya, telah memberikan kontribusi berharga dalam pengetahuan tentang Zona Ekonomi Eksklusif (ZEE), yang kini menjadi standar internasional yang bermanfaat secara luas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D. selaku ketua Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI menjelaskan bahwa masyarakat Indonesia perlu memahami dan mengakui pentingnya laut sebagai wilayah yang menyatukan Indonesia, sebagaimana Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmaja dan jejak pemikiran maritim Indonesia yang dilahirkannya, telah memberikan kontribusi berharga dalam pengetahuan tentang Zona Ekonomi Eksklusif (ZEE), yang kini menjadi standar internasional yang bermanfaat secara luas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Anom menilai bahwa seharusnya wawasan tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan dengan sebaik-baiknya oleh seluruh masyarakat, khususnya oleh Sivitas Departemen biologi FMIPA UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSaat ini, kita seharusnya dapat memanfaatkan pengetahuan ini dengan sebaik-baiknya. Departemen Biologi, khususnya, perlu memperluas wawasannya terhadap perkembangan ilmu yang pesat, termasuk potensi besar yang dimiliki laut kita,\u201d ujar Prof Anom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kolaborasi dengan lembaga Eropa seperti Erasmus, Menurutnya, dapat membuka peluang untuk membangun jejaring regional dalam pengembangan potensi kelautan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sementara itu, Project manager SustainaBlue Center Universitas Indonesia, Dr. rer. nat. Mufti Petala Patria, M.Sc. mengatakan, SustainaBlue mengusung prinsip keberlanjutan, yang berarti tidak hanya memperhatikan pertumbuhan ekonomi tetapi juga menjaga kelestarian ekosistem laut jangka panjang. Upaya ini mencakup pengelolaan sumber daya laut secara berkelanjutan, pengembangan kapasitas masyarakat pesisir untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah produk-produk laut, pengembangan kurikulum yang relevan, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat, dan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya menjaga ekosistem laut.11<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSemoga programSustainaBlue ini bisa bermanfaat bagi kita semua dan masyarakat pesisir, sehingga kita dapat lebih memberdayakan, dan meningkatkan taraf hidup para nelayan, para komunitas di pesisir, serta mengembangkan ilmu yang kita peroleh di FMIPA UI,\u201d kata Dr. Mufti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guna memaksimalkan perannya dalam mendukung keberlanjutan ejonomi biru dan transisi hijau, saat ini SustainaBlue sedang dipersiapkan oleh Departemen Biologi untuk dapat dikembangkan menjadi pusat studi di bawah naungan Unit Kerja Khusus FMIPA UI. Nantinya, SustainaBlue sebagai pusat studi akan menjalankan berbagai program kegiatan berupa Penelitian dan Pengembangan, Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, Pendidikan dan Pelatihan, Advokasi dan Kesadaran, Kolaborasi dan Jaringan, dan Pengembangan Inovasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acara yang digelar secara hybrid ini dihadiri oleh 163 peserta dari berbagai latar belakang profesi, mulai dari akademisi, institusi penelitian, local authorities, dan bidang bisnis yang bergerak dalam sektor Blue Economy, media, dan Komunitas Pencinta Seni Budaya Gunung Salak.
