Manfaatnya bermacam-macam, diantaranya sebagai obat-obatan, kosmetik, bumbu masak, dan minuman kesehatan yang dikonsumsi atau digunakan dari bagian-bagian tanaman seperti daun, batang, buah, rimpang ataupun akar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cProgram ini sesuai dengan salah satu tujuan Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Daerah (RPJMD) yang telah disusun oleh Kabupaten Bogor, yaitu meningkatkan daya saing ekonomi masyarakat dan pengembangan usaha berbasis sumber daya alam dan pariwisata.\u201d ungkap Retno di FMIPA UI, Depok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahap. Tahap pertama dimulai dari mempersiapkan lahan dan menanaminya dengan berbagai empon-emponan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kemudian memberikan pelatihan kepada para peserta tentang manfaat berbagai macam empon baik untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari seperti untuk dijadikan bumbu masakan, obat-obatan, dan mengajarkan keterampilan seperti membuat minuman sehat dan berkhasiat dengan menggunakan racikan berbagai empon-emponan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retno Lestari selaku inisiator sekaligus ketua tim, menjelaskan bahwa melalui program pengmas ini, masyarakat diharapkan mampu berkontribusi terhadap pengelolaan dan penataan lahan di Desa Bojong Koneng, memberikan alternatif lokasi eduwisata, hingga memberikan dampak secara langsung terhadap pendapatan masyarakat lokal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHarapannya dengan adanya program ini dapat mengubah lahan tidur (lahan non produktif) di Desa Bojong Koneng, Sentul menjadi pusat pemanfaatan dan budidaya tanaman empon.
