Tim pengabdian masyarakat dari Departemen Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) melatih warga Pulau Harapan, Kepulauan Seribu, untuk mengolah limbah tersebut menjadi sabun alami yang memiliki nilai guna dan ekonomi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kegiatan pelatihan berlangsung pada Jumat, 19 September 2025, di RPTRA Widya Bahari, Pulau Harapan. Program bertajuk Shell of Hope ini merupakan hasil kolaborasi FMIPA UI dengan SustainaBlue UI dan Abang None Kepulauan Seribu, serta didukung oleh Direktorat Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Inovasi Sosial (DPIS UI), Yayasan Pandu Cendekia, dan Pemerintah Kabupaten Kepulauan Seribu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Menurut data tim pelaksana, sekitar 7 kilogram limbah cangkang kerang dihasilkan setiap bulan oleh masyarakat setempat. Dalam satu sesi pelatihan, sebanyak 3 kilogram limbah berhasil diolah menjadi sabun siap pakai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-179.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5794\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-179.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-179-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-179-18x10.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-179-600x337.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sabun hasil olahan diberi nama OceanGlow. Produk ini mengandung mineral alami dari cangkang kerang dan aman digunakan sebagai sabun cuci tangan maupun sabun cuci piring. Selain ramah lingkungan, OceanGlow juga diharapkan menjadi produk unggulan lokal yang berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai oleh-oleh khas wisata Pulau Harapan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKelak, sabun ini bisa menjadi ikon Pulau Harapan dan menginspirasi daerah lain untuk memanfaatkan limbah secara bijak,\u201d ujar Dr. Retno Lestari, M.Si., dosen Biologi FMIPA UI sekaligus Wakil Manajer SustainaBlue UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pelatihan terbagi dalam dua sesi. Sesi pertama menghadirkan Dr. rer. nat. Yasman, S.Si., M.Sc., yang menjelaskan potensi cangkang kerang sebagai sumber kalsium. Sesi kedua berupa praktik pembuatan sabun, dipandu oleh Ketua kegiatan, Dr. Windri Handayani, S.Si., M.Si. Sebanyak 42 peserta, yang terdiri dari ibu-ibu dan pemuda Karang Taruna, belajar mengolah campuran bubuk cangkang kerang, minyak jelantah, soda api (NaOH), serta bahan pewarna dan pewangi alami menjadi sabun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKegiatan ini bagi kami cukup menggugah antusiasme warga. Ini menunjukkan pentingnya pelatihan yang relevan dengan kondisi masyarakat pesisir,\u201d kata Dr. Windri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-180.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5795\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-180.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-180-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-180-18x10.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sci-180-600x337.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tak berhenti di pelatihan, tim FMIPA UI juga merencanakan pembentukan forum komunikasi warga sebagai wadah berbagi pengalaman, menyampaikan tantangan, dan mengembangkan inovasi produk lanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partisipasi aktif warga menjadi indikator keberhasilan kegiatan ini. \u201cKegiatan seperti ini memberikan wawasan baru, terutama bagi pemuda Karang Taruna, bahwa sampah bisa menjadi barang bernilai jual,\u201d ujar Aryadi, salah satu peserta pelatihan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selain dosen, kegiatan ini turut melibatkan mahasiswa FMIPA UI yang mendukung pelaksanaan program, yakni Samuel Young Hadi, Shally Helena Hotmauli, Yolanda Rosida Butarbutar, Gracia Adelia Nababan, Najwa Cahya Meiliza, Jingga Malda Fitri, dan Frisya Farellia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dengan semangat kolaboratif lintas generasi, FMIPA UI menunjukkan peran aktif perguruan tinggi dalam menghadirkan solusi lingkungan yang berdampak dan berkelanjutan.
