Padahal, mikroorganisme juga memiliki peran besar dalam menghasilkan pangan bergizi dan bermanfaat bagi kehidupan manusia, seperti tempe dan yoghurt. Berangkat dari pandangan inilah, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) melalui Departemen Biologi menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertema \u201cPengenalan Mikroorganisme dan Pembuatan Makanan Fermentasi kepada Siswi Sekolah Shofiyyah Islamic School &amp; Multimedia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kegiatan yang digelar di Aula Prof. Dr. Soemantri Brodjonegoro dan Laboratorium Pengajaran 2 Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI, pada Sabtu (11\/10\/2025), diikuti oleh 33 siswi dan 4 guru pendamping dari Shofiyyah Islamic School &amp; Multimedia, Bogor. Program ini menjadi bagian dari komitmen Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dan menumbuhkan minat terhadap bioteknologi di kalangan pelajar usia sekolah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-236.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5898\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-236.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-236-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-236-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-236-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam kegiatan ini, para peserta diajak mengenal berbagai jenis mikroorganisme menggunakan Kit Literasi Sains \u201cProf. Microbes\u201d, sekaligus mempraktikkan pembuatan makanan fermentasi seperti yoghurt dan tempe. Kit edukatif tersebut merupakan hasil inovasi Prof. Wellyzar Sjamsuridzal, Ph.D., Guru Besar Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI, yang dirancang agar siswa dapat memahami dunia mikroorganisme secara menyenangkan melalui eksperimen sederhana dan berbasis inkuiri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ketua tim pengabdian masyarakat, Dr. Fitrianingsih, M.Eng., menjelaskan bahwa kegiatan ini dirancang untuk memperkenalkan konsep mikroorganisme secara kontekstual dan aplikatif. \u201cMelalui kegiatan ini kami ingin menunjukkan bahwa mikroorganisme bukan hanya dikenal sebagai penyebab penyakit, tetapi juga berperan besar dalam proses biologis yang menghasilkan pangan bergizi dan bermanfaat,\u201d ujarnya. Beliau berharap kegiatan ini dapat menumbuhkan rasa ingin tahu ilmiah serta keterampilan observasi siswa sejak dini melalui praktik langsung yang bisa mereka terapkan di sekolah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-237.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5899\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-237.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-237-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-237-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-237-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam sambutan pembuka, Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D., selaku Ketua Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI, menyampaikan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini menjadi jembatan antara perguruan tinggi dan sekolah menengah untuk memperkuat minat generasi muda terhadap ilmu hayati. \u201cKami ingin menjadikan ilmu hayati lebih dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, agar generasi muda tidak hanya belajar teori, tetapi juga memahami penerapannya,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usai pembukaan, peserta mengikuti sesi praktikum isolasi mikroorganisme dari sampel tanah dan daun, serta pembuatan makanan fermentasi yang dibimbing langsung oleh dosen-dosen Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI, yaitu Prof. Dr. Nining Betawati Prihantini, M.Sc., Dra. Sitaresmi, M.Sc., Dr. Dian Hendrayanti, M.Sc., Dr. Riani Widiarti, M.Si., dan Dr. Mazytha Kinanti Rachmania, M.Si. Selain kegiatan di laboratorium, peserta juga diajak mengikuti tur edukatif ke Rumah Anggrek dan Rumah Kaca Departemen Biologi UI untuk mengenal konservasi tumbuhan serta penerapan bioteknologi di lingkungan kampus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melalui kegiatan ini, para siswi tidak hanya belajar mengenai peranan mikroorganisme dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, tetapi juga memahami keterkaitan antara biologi, pangan, kesehatan, dan inovasi teknologi. Program ini sekaligus mendukung pencapaian beberapa Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (Sustainable Development Goals\/SDGs), seperti kehidupan sehat dan sejahtera melalui edukasi pangan fermentasi, pendidikan berkualitas lewat pembelajaran biologi yang kontekstual dan interaktif, penguatan inovasi di bidang bioteknologi sederhana, serta konsumsi dan produksi yang bertanggung jawab melalui pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal secara berkelanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-238.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-238.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-238-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-238-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/sci-238-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Setelah kegiatan di kampus, para siswi melakukan pengamatan lanjutan di sekolah untuk memantau pertumbuhan koloni mikroorganisme dan perubahan pada hasil fermentasi yang mereka buat. Antusiasme peserta terlihat dari semangat mereka dalam berdiskusi dan menuliskan hasil pengamatan ilmiah di lembar kerja yang disediakan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perwakilan sekolah, Ibu Ayuningsih, S.Si., menyampaikan apresiasinya terhadap kegiatan ini karena membuat pembelajaran sains terasa lebih hidup dan relevan. \u201cAnak-anak jadi lebih antusias belajar biologi karena bisa melihat langsung bagaimana sains bekerja di kehidupan nyata,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melalui kegiatan ini, Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI berharap semakin banyak sekolah yang terinspirasi untuk menerapkan pembelajaran sains berbasis praktik sederhana yang menarik, relevan, dan mampu membangkitkan rasa ingin tahu ilmiah generasi muda.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All this time, students have often known microorganisms only as causes of disease.
