Di tengah tantangan ketahanan energi nasional dan dinamika industri minyak dan gas bumi yang terus berkembang, pemahaman terhadap proses upstream khususnya layanan pengeboran (drilling services), menjadi kunci penting bagi generasi muda yang akan terjun ke sektor ini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Menjawab kebutuhan tersebut, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) melalui program UI Geoscience Seminar (UIGS) STARBORN MENGAJAR 2025 mengupas peran penting layanan upstream dalam industri migas, khususnya drilling fluid services, dalam seminar bertema \u201cUpstream Service in Oil and Gas: Drilling Fluid Services\u201d, pada Senin, 10 November 2025 di Aula Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy, Kampus UI, Depok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kegiatan ini menghadirkan Try Rachmaputra, S.Si, M.T, Chemical Service Coordinator di PT Elnusa Tbk, sebagai pembicara utama. Seminar dipandu oleh dosen Program Studi Geofisika Ayunda Aulia Valencia, M.T selaku moderator, dan diikuti oleh sekitar 80 mahasiswa dari Program Studi Geologi dan Program Studi Geofisika. Antusiasme peserta mencerminkan tingginya minat mahasiswa terhadap topik eksplorasi dan teknologi perminyakan di Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dalam paparannya, Try Rachmaputra menjelaskan bahwa dalam bisnis drilling fluids, terdapat dua tipe utama perusahaan. Tipe pertama menyediakan layanan lengkap mulai dari penjualan produk hingga penyelesaian masalah teknis di lapangan seperti yang dilakukan oleh PT Elnusa Tbk. Sementara itu, tipe kedua hanya berfokus pada penjualan produk dengan dukungan teknis yang terbatas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lebih lanjut, peserta diajak mengenal berbagai jenis rig pengeboran seperti Land Rig, Swamp Barge, Jack-Up, Semi Submersible, dan Drill Ship, serta komponen penting dalam operasi pengeboran seperti cementing dan casing. Fokus utama pembahasan terletak pada drilling fluids (lumpur pengeboran) yang berfungsi untuk mengangkat serpihan batuan (drill cuttings) ke permukaan dan menjaga stabilitas lubang sumur. Dalam sesi tersebut, Try membandingkan dua jenis lumpur pengeboran utama, yakni Water Based Mud (WBM) dan Oil Based Mud (OBM). OBM dinilai memiliki stabilitas lubang yang lebih baik untuk jangka panjang, sementara WBM lebih ramah lingkungan meskipun memiliki tingkat pelumasan yang lebih rendah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pada sesi diskusi dan tanya jawab, beberapa mahasiswa aktif bertanya mengenai pemilihan jenis drilling fluid, strategi operasi pengeboran, hingga peluang magang di PT Elnusa. Diskusi juga menyinggung pentingnya menjaga performa akademik, mengasah kemampuan teknis, dan menguasai bahasa Inggris untuk dapat bersaing di industri migas global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acara ditutup dengan penyerahan plakat kepada pembicara sebagai bentuk apresiasi, diikuti sesi foto bersama seluruh peserta. Melalui kegiatan ini, FMIPA UI berharap dapat menjembatani dunia akademik dengan industri, sekaligus memperkuat kesiapan mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan di sektor energi yang terus berevolusi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
