Temuan ini dipaparkan oleh Vilya Syafriana dalam sidang terbuka promosi doktor program studi Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Universitas Indonesia, pada Kamis (8\/1) di Aula Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy, FMIPA UI, Depok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melalui disertasi berjudul \u2018Eksplorasi dan Kajian Metabolomik Tanaman Pucuk Merah (Syzygium myrtifolium) sebagai Sumber Bahan Baku Agen Antimikrob\u2019, Vilya memaparkan hasil penelitiannya yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan terintegrasi, mulai dari karakterisasi bahan baku, optimasi ekstraksi, uji aktivitas antimikrob, analisis pengaruh lokasi tumbuh, hingga kajian metabolomik menggunakan Liquid Chromatography\u2013Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) \u2014 sebuah metode analisis modern untuk mendeteksi kandungan kimia tanaman secara rinci. Atas penelitian ini, Vilya berhasil meraih predikat Cum Laude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPenelitian ini mengungkap potensi besar Syzygium myrtifolium sebagai sumber bahan baku obat herbal berbasis metabolit sekunder, khususnya sebagai agen antimikrob alami,\u201d ujar Vilya di hadapan tim penguji.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"643\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-359.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-359.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-359-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-359-14x12.jpg 14w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-359-600x502.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tahap perkembangan daun\u2014muda maupun dewasa\u2014mempengaruhi sifat fisikokimia, komposisi metabolit, dan aktivitas antimikrob daun pucuk merah. Ekstraksi dengan etanol menghasilkan rendemen tertinggi, sementara etil asetat lebih efektif mengekstraksi senyawa flavonoid. Aktivitas antimikrob daun pucuk merah terbukti lebih efektif terhadap bakteri Gram-positif dibanding Gram-negatif. Meski lokasi tumbuh memengaruhi bioaktivitas, tahap perkembangan daun memiliki pengaruh yang lebih dominan terhadap profil metabolit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daun muda kaya flavonoid, sehingga berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai agen antimikrobial dan antioksidan untuk pangan fungsional, suplemen kesehatan, vitamin, maupun kosmetik. Sementara daun dewasa mengandung lebih banyak triterpenoid, membuka peluang eksplorasi aktivitas biologis tambahan, termasuk sebagai kandidat senyawa antikanker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selain membuka peluang pemanfaatan spesifik bagian tanaman, penelitian ini juga memperkuat potensi genus Syzygium\u2014yang terdiri dari 1.200\u20131.800 spesies dan tersebar luas di Asia Tenggara, termasuk Indonesia\u2014sebagai sumber penting tanaman obat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-360.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-360.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-360-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-360-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/sci-360-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPenelitian ini diharapkan berkontribusi dalam pengembangan obat herbal nasional berbasis sains, berdaya saing, dan mendukung pemanfaatan keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia secara berkelanjutan,\u201d tambah Vilya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sidang terbuka dipimpin oleh Dekan FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., dengan promotor Dr. rer. nat.
