Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 50 siswa kelas IX beserta 3 guru pendamping sebagai bagian dari program pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis sains dan keberlanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kunjungan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan peserta didik pada inovasi dan teknologi energi terbarukan, khususnya Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Sampah (PLTSa) sederhana yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari dan masa depan berkelanjutan. Selain itu, kegiatan ini memberikan wawasan mengenai penerapan sains dan teknologi dalam menjawab tantangan global seperti pengelolaan sampah, krisis energi, perubahan iklim, dan keberlanjutan lingkungan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laboratorium Parangtopo FMIPA UI merupakan laboratorium riset terapan yang berfokus pada pengelolaan lingkungan, pengolahan sampah, dan pengembangan energi terbarukan berbasis sumber daya hayati. Laboratorium ini menjadi salah satu pusat pembelajaran dan riset FMIPA UI dalam mengembangkan solusi inovatif yang berdampak langsung bagi masyarakat, khususnya dalam pemanfaatan limbah organik menjadi sumber energi dan produk ramah lingkungan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"363\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-416.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-416.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-416-300x142.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-416-18x9.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-416-600x284.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam kunjungan ini, hadir sebagai narasumber Afiatry Putrika, S.Si., M.Si., dosen Departemen Biologi FMIPA UI. Beliau menjelaskan bahwa sampah organik merupakan salah satu permasalahan lingkungan yang penting dan menarik untuk diteliti. Sampah organik di lingkungan Kampus UI sebagian besar berasal dari sisa makanan kantin serta daun-daun kering yang tersebar di area kampus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSampah yang sering kita anggap tidak berguna sebenarnya memiliki potensi besar. Dengan teknologi sederhana seperti biodigester, sampah organik bisa diolah menjadi energi dan pupuk yang bermanfaat bagi lingkungan dan masyarakat,\u201d tutur Afiatry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UI memanfaatkan potensi tersebut dengan mengolah sampah organik menggunakan biodigester yang dikembangkan di Laboratorium Parangtopo. Melalui proses ini, sampah diuraikan menjadi biogas (gas metana) yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber energi, serta pupuk organik padat dan cair sebagai produk sampingan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selain biodigester, sebelumnya Laboratorium Parangtopo juga telah mengembangkan pengolahan sampah organik dengan memanfaatkan maggot atau larva Black Soldier Fly (BSF). Sisa makanan kantin diolah menjadi maggot yang bernilai ekonomi sebagai pakan ternak (ayam dan ikan), sementara kotoran maggot dimanfaatkan sebagai pupuk organik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pada sesi pemaparan, siswa mendapatkan penjelasan lengkap mengenai cara kerja biodigester, mulai dari input sampah organik berupa sisa makanan, dedaunan kering, dan kotoran hewan, hingga proses penguraian yang menghasilkan gas metana dan pupuk. Gas metana yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan untuk menggerakkan generator listrik, sehingga berpotensi menjadi sumber energi alternatif yang ramah lingkungan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Namun, Afiatry Putrika menekankan bahwa pengelolaan sampah organik tidak harus selalu menggunakan teknologi canggih. Menurutnya, siswa bisa memulai dari hal sederhana di rumah atau sekolah, misalnya dengan mengolah sampah dapur menjadi kompos, sebagai langkah awal untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPengolahan sampah organik tidak harus selalu menggunakan teknologi yang rumit. Siswa dapat mulai dari hal sederhana di rumah atau sekolah, seperti mengolah sampah dapur menjadi kompos, sebagai langkah awal membangun kesadaran lingkungan,\u201d kata Afiatry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"363\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-417.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-417.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-417-300x142.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-417-18x9.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sci-417-600x284.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salah satu guru pendamping dari SMP Lazuardi GCS, Ibu Menurseto, menyampaikan bahwa kunjungan ke Laboratorium Parangtopo FMIPA UI memberikan pengalaman belajar yang kontekstual dan bermakna bagi siswa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKami dapat melihat langsung bagaimana sampah diolah melalui biodigester menjadi energi, pupuk kompos, dan pupuk organik cair. Menariknya, gas metana dari sampah bahkan bisa dimanfaatkan untuk menghasilkan listrik,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Menurutnya, tim FMIPA UI menjelaskan proses pengolahan dengan cara yang ramah dan komunikatif. Siswa pun antusias karena dapat membawa pulang pupuk hasil pengolahan laboratorium, yang semakin memperkaya pengalaman belajar mereka. Ia menambahkan bahwa kegiatan ini sangat membantu siswa memahami konsep waste to energy sekaligus pengelolaan lingkungan secara nyata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selama kegiatan berlangsung, para siswa terlihat antusias dan aktif bertanya, terutama terkait proses pengolahan sampah organik hingga menghasilkan gas metana sebagai energi alternatif.
