Salah satunya ditunjukkan oleh Kadnan, peneliti FMIPA Universitas Indonesia, yang berhasil mengembangkan sistem peringatan dini gempabumi dengan pendekatan hybrid berbasis kecerdasan buatan dan fisika seismik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam disertasi doktoralnya yang berjudul Design and Development of an On-Site Earthquake Early Warning System Using a Hybrid Approach Combining Machine Learning and Seismic Physics Analysis in West Java, Kadnan merancang sistem yang mampu \u201cmembaca\u201d sinyal awal gempabumi hanya dalam hitungan detik. Sistem ini memanfaatkan gelombang P (P-wave)\u2014gelombang pertama yang tiba\u2014untuk memprediksi seberapa kuat guncangan yang akan dirasakan saat gelombang utama datang (S-wave). Disertasi tersebut dipertahankan dalam sidang terbuka Promosi Doktor Program Studi Ilmu Fisika FMIPA UI yang berlangsung di Aula Prof. G.A. Siwabessy FMIPA UI, Depok, Selasa (7\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Berbeda dengan pendekatan konvensional, inovasi ini mengintegrasikan kekuatan&nbsp;<em>machine learning<\/em>&nbsp;dalam mengenali pola data dengan ketelitian analisis fisika gempabumi. Hasilnya adalah sistem yang tidak hanya cepat, tetapi juga akurat dan dapat dipertanggungjawabkan secara ilmiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-787.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-787.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-787-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-787-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-787-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Model dikembangkan menggunakan ribuan data gempabumi di Jawa bagian barat dan menunjukkan tingkat akurasi tinggi, mencapai lebih dari 92 persen. Pengujian pada kasus nyata seperti gempabumi Tasikmalaya (2009) dan Cianjur (2022) menunjukkan bahwa sistem mampu memberikan prediksi yang mendekati kondisi lapangan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keunggulan lain dari penelitian ini adalah konsep&nbsp;<em>on-site warning<\/em>, di mana satu stasiun pemantau dapat secara mandiri menghasilkan peringatan tanpa harus menunggu pemrosesan dari pusat. Pendekatan ini dinilai mampu mengurangi keterlambatan (latency) yang selama ini menjadi tantangan dalam sistem berbasis jaringan.<em>latency<\/em>) which has been a challenge in network-based systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secara teknis, sistem ini juga mengoptimalkan proses deteksi kedatangan gelombang awal menggunakan metode&nbsp;<em>Initial Power of the P-wave (IPP)<\/em>&nbsp;yang terbukti lebih stabil dalam kondisi data yang dipenuhi noise. Ketepatan dalam mendeteksi fase awal ini menjadi fondasi utama dalam memastikan keandalan keseluruhan sistem peringatan dini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selain itu, model prediksi yang dikembangkan memanfaatkan parameter-parameter kunci dari gelombang P dalam jendela waktu yang sangat singkat, yakni tiga detik pertama setelah kejadian. Strategi ini memungkinkan sistem tetap mempertahankan keseimbangan optimal antara kecepatan respons (<em>lead time<\/em>)  dan akurasi estimasi kekuatan guncangan (PGA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTujuan utama dari sistem ini adalah menyelamatkan waktu\u2014karena dalam gempabumi, beberapa detik bisa menyelamatkan banyak nyawa,\u201d ujar Kadnan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-788.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-788-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-788-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-788-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dari perspektif implementasi, pendekatan ini memiliki potensi besar untuk diterapkan pada wilayah dengan kepadatan sensor yang belum merata maupun pada infrastruktur kritis yang membutuhkan sistem peringatan mandiri, seperti pembangkit listrik, jalur kereta cepat, jaringan pipa gas, rumah sakit dan fasilitas publik strategis lainnya di Bandung, Bogor dan Jakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dari perspektif implementasi, pendekatan ini memiliki potensi besar untuk diterapkan pada wilayah dengan kepadatan sensor yang belum merata maupun pada infrastruktur kritis yang membutuhkan sistem peringatan mandiri, seperti pembangkit listrik, jalur kereta cepat, jaringan pipa gas, rumah sakit dan fasilitas publik strategis lainnya di Bandung, Bogor dan Jakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dengan kondisi Jawa bagian barat yang memiliki risiko seismik tinggi akibat aktivitas subduksi serta kepadatan penduduk dan infrastruktur vital yang tinggi, inovasi ini menjadi sangat relevan. Integrasi pendekatan hybrid ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat sistem peringatan dini nasional yang saat ini masih didominasi oleh pendekatan berbasis jaringan terpusat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-789.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-789.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-789-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-789-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/chem.ui.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sci-789-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lebih jauh, hasil penelitian ini juga membuka peluang pengembangan sistem peringatan dini generasi berikutnya yang bersifat adaptif, skalabel, dan mampu diintegrasikan dengan berbagai platform teknologi, termasuk sistem komunikasi darurat dan otomatisasi respons kebencanaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKe depan, pendekatan hybrid ini berpotensi menjadi fondasi bagi pengembangan sistem peringatan dini gempabumi yang lebih adaptif, cepat, dan andal di Indonesia, sekaligus memperkuat upaya mitigasi bencana berbasis sains untuk melindungi masyarakat secara lebih efektif,\u201d imbuhnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kadnan menyelesaikan studi doktoralnya dalam enam semester dengan IPK 3,94 dan meraih predikat cumlaude. Sidang dipimpin oleh Dekan FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si. selaku Ketua Sidang Promosi Doktor.
