Depok, September 3, 2026 — The first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year has begun at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI). For the International Class Program (KKI), this semester marks the beginning of lectures for its first cohort of 50 students following the program’s official launch on November 21, 2025. The inaugural lecture was held on Monday, August 24, 2026.
The 50 students are enrolled across three study programs: Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. They were admitted through several selection pathways, including Talent Scouting and SIMAK KKI.
Asri Oktavioni Indraswari, S.T., M.Sc., D.Phil., Assistant Manager for Curriculum and International Classes at FMIPA UI, said that the inaugural lecture marked an important first step for students to become familiar with the KKI learning system while adapting to an academic environment with an international orientation.
“Through the inaugural lecture, we want students not only to understand the courses they will take but also to become familiar with the learning approach at KKI. From the outset, students need to understand that they will be part of an academically international-oriented environment,” said Asri.
KKI FMIPA UI was developed in partnership with two research-intensive universities in Australia, the University of Queensland (UQ) and Monash University. The partnership is part of the program’s efforts to provide KKI students with an international academic experience.

Under this program, students can choose from various study pathways, ranging from a single degree to a double degree or joint degree, depending on their respective study program. These pathways provide students with opportunities to gain international learning experience and build academic networks within partner universities.
According to Asri, international experience is an integral part of the educational process for KKI students.
“International experience is expected to be gained not only when students participate in mobility programs or study at partner universities, but also to become part of their learning process from the beginning of their time in KKI,” said Asri.
During the first week of lectures, students began attending classes and getting to know their lecturers. They also gained an understanding of the course structure and learning system they will follow throughout the program.
The start of lectures marks the initial stage of KKI FMIPA UI with its first cohort of students in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. The program will subsequently be further developed through learning activities and academic partnerships with universities both in Indonesia and abroad.
