On Saturday (March 6, 2021), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, held a virtual graduation ceremony for the odd semester of the 2020-2021 academic year for all 449 graduates from the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.
This year’s odd semester graduation ceremony was a valuable moment for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, especially for the Actuarial Science undergraduate study program. Established in August 2017, the program produced its first 13 graduates, one of whom, Christian Evan Chandra, earned cum laude with a GPA of 4.0. For his achievements, he was named the best graduate in the Faculty.
In addition to Christian Evan Chandra, 45 other undergraduate graduates received cum laude. Meanwhile, from the master’s program, 13 graduates received cum laude honors, with the highest GPA of 3.99, achieved by Permatasari Silitonga, a graduate of the master’s program in mathematics. The doctoral program also produced two graduates with cum laude honors, with the highest GPA of 3.96, achieved by Novrita Idayanti, a graduate of the doctoral program in Materials Science.
With these achievements, Permatasari Silitonga and Novrita Idayanti are among the top graduates of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, along with 22 other graduates from their respective study programs.
Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., Acting Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, expressed his pride in the graduates in his remarks and commended them for their achievements.
He also conveyed to the graduates that FMIPA UI continues to strive to improve its reputation to compete internationally through rankings by world-class university ranking agencies such as the QS World University Ranking, the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, Webometrics, and others.
“In 2021, we at FMIPA UI are striving to improve our reputation so that FMIPA UI can be included in several top global rankings such as QS World University Ranking, The World University Ranking, Webometrics, and others,” said Dr. Rokhmat.
Currently, Dr. Rokhmat stated, there are four main points that are the main focus of FMIPA UI in an effort to improve its world ranking: improving academic reputation, publications and citations, national and international collaborations, and innovation.
Furthermore, he also outlined the progress of FMIPA UI’s research collaborations with various parties. This research collaboration is being implemented as a priority to encourage the development of FMIPA UI. These areas of collaboration include big data/data science/artificial intelligence/cloud computing, and sustainable energy, particularly lithium-ion batteries.
In closing, he advised the graduates to continue developing their competencies amidst increasingly complex global challenges. He also hoped that FMIPA UI graduates would be able to become leaders in global development and progress, as well as good role models for society, thereby bringing honor to their alma mater.
“We hope that FMIPA UI graduates will become leaders, thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers in society,” he added.
Finally, we hope that you will continue to uphold the good name of and uphold our beloved alma mater,” said Dr. Rokhmat in closing his remarks.
