To Develop Student Potential, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) Collaborates with PT. EVOS Esport Indonesia within the MBKM Framework in the Digital Industry Sector

Depok, November 23, 2022. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) has established a collaboration in the fields of Education, Research, and Community Service in the Field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the Digital Industry with PT. Evos Esport Indonesia, the largest Professional Esports Organization in Southeast Asia.

The collaboration between FMIPA UI and EVOS Esports will focus on synergizing the potential and optimizing the human resources of both parties, as a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and the Independent Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) program in the digital industry.

This collaboration encompasses education, research, community service, the implementation of MBKM (Community-Based Community Empowerment Program), training, the implementation of the Evos Experience Zone program, career development, and other areas designed by both parties.

Dean of FMIPA UI, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. welcomed the efforts to transfer of knowledge and skill between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) and EVOS. The Dean stated, “FMIPA UI welcomes the collaboration with EVOS Esports. This is a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education that has a direct impact on students, especially in the era of digital transformation. This collaboration is expected to develop students’ potential to gain information and experience specifically in the esports industry.”

Through collaboration with EVOS, the Dean continued, it is hoped that access to and from higher education institutions will be expanded to support the development of the eSports world. The Dean added that the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) scheme initiated by the Government makes communication between the two worlds promising. This is because, in addition to conventional collaboration in the form of higher education’s tridharma activities: education, research, and community service, the MBKM program not only facilitates non-formal activities such as internships and other student activities, but also rewards them in the form of Semester Credit Units (SKS) for its participants.

Echoing the Dean, the Director of Student Affairs at the University of Indonesia, Dr. Badrul Munir, M.Eng., stated in his remarks that the esports industry has become a part of life in this era. He believes that esports in higher education can be utilized as a platform for developing student potential.

“We strongly support activities that need to be accommodated, so that esports doesn’t just focus on gaming, but can also serve as a platform for our students to improve their performance,” he said.

Hartman Harris, President Director of EVOS Esports, stated in his remarks, “EVOS is committed to supporting the younger generation in pursuing their dreams and making a real contribution to society. Therefore, this collaboration with the EVOS Campus Camp program is a clear demonstration of EVOS’s role as a professional organization in supporting students in job readiness, digital literacy, and community service. Of course, through digital literacy, students are introduced to the esports industry, which has bright prospects for the future.”

Throughout 2021, EVOS Esports collaborated with five universities in Indonesia to implement various activities that increased productivity and provided opportunities for students from different faculties and study programs to collaborate and build connections with one another.

Going forward, the EVOS Campus Camp program is a strategic step currently being developed and prepared by EVOS Esports to reach educational institutions in Indonesia. Each university in Indonesia will be provided with various benefits, such as coaching classes, internship opportunities, seminars, workshops, tournaments, and other opportunities.
