FMIPA UI once again participated in one of the annual events held by the University of Indonesia, UI Open Days. This eighth year, the event ran for two days, from Saturday (February 29, 2020) to Sunday (March 1, 2020) at the UI Campus in Depok.
The event, titled “Freedom to Determine Your Future,” featured three sessions: an exhibition, a presentation, and a parents’ session.
The exhibition session was the main session of UI Open Days 2020, featuring booths from all faculties, educational programs, and schools at UI, providing visitors with accurate information about lectures at each faculty, from Diploma 3 (D3) to Doctoral (S3) programs.
According to the FMIPA UI public relations team, the undergraduate booth area is packed with over 500 visitors per day. This number is based on the attendance list, but many visitors also skip the check-in process.
High school students dominated the visitor numbers, although some parents of prospective students, and even teachers, also visited the FMIPA UI booth.
The most frequently asked questions at the booth area included admissions, tuition fees, study programs, and graduate prospects, particularly regarding the Actuarial Studies program.
Applicants for this program, officially established at FMIPA UI in 2017, remain very high. And based on data compiled by the UI New Student Admissions Unit, actuarial science is one of the most rigorous study programs at UI, with a competitiveness of 4.41% of the 340 applicants through the SNMPTN (a quota of 12 students), 11.24% of the 178 applicants through the SBMPTN (a quota of 18 students), and 1.18% of the 1,106 applicants through SIMAK UI (a quota of 30 students).
In addition to the exhibition session, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI also participated in a parents’ session at the UI Convention Hall in Depok on Saturday (February 29, 2020). This session was delivered by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng.

In his presentation, Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., provided specific information about FMIPA UI lectures, covering both academic and non-academic aspects, to the parents of prospective students.
This Parents’ Session is a new feature of this year’s UI Open Days. It is specifically for parents of prospective students. Through this session, parents are expected to better understand the information presented by representatives from each UI faculty/educational program.
In addition to the Dean of FMIPA UI, the Education Manager of FMIPA UI, Dr. Ratna Yuniati, presented to prospective students on Sunday (March 1, 2020) at the Main Stage of the UI Convention Hall in Depok.

UI Open Days is an introductory event for prospective students in the regional areas. The event was attended by participants from Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) and surrounding areas, but also included participants from outside the Greater Jakarta area.
Attended by more than 25,000 visitors, the event provided information on Regular Undergraduate, Parallel Undergraduate, International Special Class Undergraduate, Extension Undergraduate, Vocational (D3), and Postgraduate programs.
UI Opendays visitors are expected to gain a wealth of information from reliable sources about the SNMPTN (National Selection for State Universities), SBMPTN (National Selection for State Universities), and SIMAK-UI.
