Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) Graduates 554 Students, Including the First Graduates of the Geophysics Study Program

Tuesday, August 27, 2019. FMIPA UI held a Graduation Ceremony for Graduates of the Even Semester 2018/2019 at the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building of FMIPA UI – PT. Pertamina, UI Campus, Depok.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, Dean, led the ceremony. In his remarks, Prof. Haris stated that the even-semester graduation celebration was a valuable moment to be grateful for.

This, continued Prof. Haris, is because in this even semester, for the first time the FMIPA UI geophysics undergraduate study program has produced graduates since the study program was officially established in 2015.

“Alhamdulillah, this is certainly a moment to be grateful for together. This even semester, FMIPA UI has graduates from a new study program,” said Prof. Haris with a smile and was greeted with loud applause from the graduates.

“This is the first time the Geophysics undergraduate program has graduated 37 students,” he continued.

“He also expressed his pride in the achievements of his graduates and hoped that FMIPA UI graduates would always develop themselves according to their respective fields of knowledge, as they had been equipped with during their studies at FMIPA UI, in order to advance research to produce innovation and technology.

“UI FMIPA graduates must continue to innovate to produce technology. So the struggle doesn’t end here. We must think about developing ourselves, because the country needs our contributions,” said Prof. Haris.

Not only proud of the achievements of his graduates, Prof. Haris also conveyed symbolic appreciation to the professors, lecturers, and students of FMIPA UI who recently received national and international awards, namely Dr. Anawati, a teaching staff member of the physics department who was awarded the Achmad Bakrie Award XVII in mid-August.

Dr. Anawati’s achievement was followed by her colleague in the same department, namely Prof. Dr. Terry Mart, a professor in Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, who was awarded the LIPI Sarwono Award a few days ago.

There is also Valentino Prasetya (Mathematics 2016), who won a gold medal at the International Mathematics Competition in Bulgaria.

In this even semester graduation thanksgiving ceremony, FMIPA UI graduated a total of 554 graduates consisting of 336 regular undergraduate program graduates, 114 parallel undergraduate program graduates, 94 master’s program graduates, and 10 doctoral program graduates.
