To welcome new students for the 2022/2023 academic year, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), is holding an Introduction to the Faculty Academic System (PSAF) for 994 new students from all undergraduate study programs. The series of activities will run for three consecutive days, starting today, Thursday (August 18th), and ending Saturday (August 20th).
In general, this activity contains an introduction to academic and non-academic matters in the FMIPA UI environment as provisions for new students during their education at FMIPA UI.
The ceremony for this activity was officially opened by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dede Djuhana, on the first day of the hybrid program on Thursday (18/8).
Beginning his remarks, the Dean welcomed the new students. He expressed pride, stating that being accepted into the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, is a gift worth cherishing, given the intense competition for this opportunity. Therefore, he reminded the students to make the most of this opportunity by studying diligently and exploring their potential.
“On this occasion, I would like to express my pride as Dean. Because you are selected students accepted into FMIPA UI, welcome, good luck, explore your potential, bothhard skillsandsoft skills,” said the Dean opening his remarks in the Sinar Mas Hall, FMIPA UI Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building – PT Pertamina.
The Dean also conveyed six important points regarding developments within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UI for new students to be aware of. These six points are: the Independent Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) program; collaboration and implementation of the Tri Dharma of higher education through academic activities, research, innovation, and community service; downstream utilization of research and community service results; UI as an entrepreneurial university; academic quality assurance and internationalization of study programs; and collaboration with alumni and student organizations in activities that can benefit the wider community.
“To strengthen these points, we encourage all members of the FMIPA UI academic community to work together to build synergy, building FMIPA UI into a leading science faculty capable of playing a role at the global level,” said the number one leader at FMIPA UI.
At the end of the speech, the Dean emphasized to new students to practice the 9 UI values as UI identity as well as guidelines for living campus life, and to be able to uphold ethics as basic personal values in academic life and daily life.
The agenda on the first day includes an introduction to the organizational structure of FMIPA UI, a presentation on academic activities by Dr.rer.nat. Budiawan as Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, a presentation on non-academic fields by Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., a presentation on Research and Community Service by the Manager of Research and Community Service Dr. Dipo Aldila, M.Si., Information on academic fields by the Manager of Education Rika Tri Yunarti, Ph.D. and Information on student affairs by the Manager of Student Affairs and the person in charge of PSAF MIPA UI activities Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, M.Si.
In addition, to broaden the insight of new students, PSAF MIPA UI presents a talk show themed High School vs College with the Chairperson of the PSAF MIPA UI 2020 Executive Committee and one of the best graduates of FMIPA UI Muhammad Rifqi Ramdhani, and a talk show on Career Preparation for Gen Z in the Independent Campus Era by inviting the Chairperson of ALUNI FMIPA UI Drs. Satya Heragandhi, M.Sc as a speaker.
The event was also attended by the Chair of the Faculty Academic Senate, Chair of the Faculty Council of Professors, Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit (UPMA), Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Programs, and Chair of the UI FMIPA Alumni Association.
