FMIPA UI and the University of Oxford Hold a Workshop on the Development of a Medical Linear Accelerator

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, and the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford held a collaborative activity to study the reliability of medical linear accelerator devices. Dr. Suzie Sheehy, representing the University of Oxford, presented the ongoing medical linear accelerator development project and the scope of the research collaboration in Indonesia.

The workshop on Medical Linac Operation and Maintenance was the first activity in the framework of collaboration between the two institutions which was held at the Margo Hotel on July 5-6, 2019. This activity was officially opened by Dr. Tito Latif Indra representing the Dean of FMIPA UI who was unable to attend.

In this workshop, Agung Nugroho Oktavianto, M.Si., representing the Director of Health Service Facilities at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, presented the current state of radiotherapy facilities. The workshop was attended by medical physicists and several technicians, aiming to discuss their experiences in handling LINAC-related issues at their respective facilities.

The workshop was also attended by Linac Medik Indonesia distributors, namely PT Besindo Medi Prima and PT Murti Indah Sentosa.
