Today, Tuesday (20/09/2016) Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia Dr.rer.nat. Abdul Haris met face to face with the Parents of Undergraduate Students of FMIPA UI Class of 2016 in a series of events for the acceptance of new students of FMIPA UI in 2016. The meeting with the parents of the students was held at the Balairung Universitas Indonesia, Depok Campus.
The Dean of FMIPA UI was accompanied by the Deputy Dean for Field II, namely Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng.The Managers, Coordinators of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit, Heads of Undergraduate Study Programs within the FMIPA UI environment, and the Chair of the FMIPA UI Alumni Association (ILUNI), namely Dra. Etty Purnamawati, M.Sc.
In his speech, Abdul Haris congratulated the parents of the new students of FMIPA UI class of 2016 for successfully educating their children so that they could be accepted as FMIPA UI students. According to him, to be able to become a FMIPA UI student, you have to go through a very tight selection and competition. Abdul Haris also said that FMIPA UI has very broad prospects for its graduates in all fields of science, with mastery basic science continuing education. To achieve student success in pursuing education at FMIPA UI, Abdul Haris added that cooperation is needed between parents and the leaders of FMIPA UI, namely the Dean, Vice Deans, Managers and Coordinators, Heads of Study Programs, and Academic Supervisors to monitor the progress of student education development. “This is a kind of contract between you and us for approximately 4 years to be able to support and make the students graduate successfully,” he added. Abdul Haris also conveyed several developments in FMIPA UI that have been achieved and are still in process.
Chair of the UI Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Alumni Association, Dra. Etty Purnamawati, M.Sc. Delivered a Welcome Speech
Having the opportunity to give a speech as the chairman of the FMIPA UI Alumni Association,Dra. Etty Purnawaty, M.Sc., in her speech said that she was proud of FMIPA UI. The FMIPA UI Chemistry alumna revealed that there were so many opportunities to achieve success in her career that she got while being a student and when she became a FMIPA UI chemistry alumna, as long as she remained consistent in her choices and diligently studied and was active in student organizations, she also advised and emphasized to the parents of new FMIPA UI students of class 2016 that it could be conveyed to the new FMIPA UI students of class 2016 not to engage in politics that was practical politics on campus.
In this event, the parents of new students of FMIPA UI class of 2016 were given a presentation on the Introduction to the Faculty Academic System (PSAF), this PSAF was socialized by
Dr. Dian Lestari, DEA, as the Education Manager of FMIPA UI. The goal is for the parents of new students of FMIPA UI to be able to know about the Academic System of the Faculty of MIPA UI, as well as the lecture activities that FMIPA UI students get.
Deputy Dean II of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., explained the non-academic system of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia.
In addition to the presentation on the Introduction to the Faculty Academic System (PSAF), the parents of new students of FMIPA UI class of 2016 were also given a presentation on the Introduction to the Non-Academic System of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UI byDr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., as Vice Dean II of FMIPA UI. In his presentation, he conveyed the developments that have been achieved by FMIPA UI in terms of facilities, namely the construction ofelevatorsand improvements in Building B which is the main building of FMIPA UI lectures, expansion of the parking area, repair of toilets. He also said that FMIPA UI is still continuing to improve other facilities which will begin in October 2016, namely the expansion of the canteen, place of worship, laboratory, and will develop the Pertamina Multidisciplinary Laboratory(Center of Excellence)into an 8-story FMIPA UI Research Center.This building will later become a center for students and teaching staff to develop their research. All of these facilities are to support student activities so that they can carry out lecture activities well.
At the end of the event, parents of the 2016 new students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UI) were given the opportunity to ask questions and provide suggestions to the faculty’s leaders that could support the faculty’s progress. The Q&A and discussion session was moderated byDr. Tito Latif Indra,the Manager of Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni for FMIPA UI.
All parties at FMIPA UI hope that by holding this event, good communication and cooperation can be established between the parents of students and the leadership of FMIPA UI in order to support and ensure the success of FMIPA UI students’ studies.
