PKM-PE Team Geography FMIPA UI Golden Saber PIMNAS 31

The Ministry of Research and Technology, through the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs (Ditjen Belmawa), once again held the 31st annual National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS).

The grand event, held from August 29 to September 1, 2018, was attended by over 1,000 students from 136 universities.

This year, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) was entrusted by the Directorate General of Belmawa, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, to host the event.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), through its contingent, submitted 70 proposals for Student Creative Programs, which were selected at the UI level.

The team that successfully qualified and was announced as the winner at the culmination of the event was led by Muhamad Iqbal Januadi Putra (Geography 2014), along with his teammates Diki Nurul Huda (Geography 2016), and Fida Afdhalua (Geography 2015).

Iqbal and his team won first place in the Student Creative Program presentation category with their proposal titled “Oil and Gas Reservoir Detection Through Hydrocarbon Microseepage Mapping with Satellite Imagery.” For this achievement, Iqbal and his team took home a gold medal.

Also in the PKM-PE presentation category, team leader Nadiatus Silmi (Chemistry 2015) and her team members, Redita Andini Ayundrisa (Chemistry 2015), and Shella Jeniferiani Willyam (Chemistry 2015), won third place with their proposal, “Utilization of Styrofoam Waste in a Modified Fe3O4 Magnetic Green Nanocatalyst for the Synthesis of Active Insecticide Ingredients from Indonesian Natural Materials.”

PIMNAS is the culmination of national-scale student scientific activities, serving as a forum for scientific meetings and communication of student-created products, participated in by students or student groups. This activity aims to open opportunities for developing students’ potential in scientific activities.

In his remarks, UNY Rector Sutrisna Wibawa stated that this activity provides an opportunity for students to develop their potential and creativity. The 31st PIMNAS theme is “Cultivating superior, creative, and innovative students grounded in piety.”
