The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) participated in a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the University of Indonesia (UI) with various competitions, including tug-of-war, Maumere dance, tumpeng (rice cone) decoration, and a march. The lively competitions took place on February 5 and 7, 2020.
A total of 51 participants from across the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI teams participated in the event, themed “UI as a Pillar of National Competitiveness.” They included students, staff, and faculty members of FMIPA UI, with the full support of the FMIPA UI leadership.
On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, a tug-of-war competition was held in the hallway connecting the rectorate building and the auditorium. Twenty participants from two tug-of-war teams from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), participated.
In parallel, a tumpeng (rice cone) decorating competition and a Maumere dance competition took place at the Balairung building. For the tumpeng decorating competition, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) sent five participants, consisting of four employees and one teaching staff member as team leader. For the Maumere dance competition, the FMIPA UI team consisted of 12 laboratory technicians and administrative staff.
On Friday, February 7, 2020, the 15-member FMIPA UI walking team performed a short chant and began taking swift steps at the starting line, walking along the route determined by the committee. Along the route, the FMIPA UI walking team sang chants.
