Depok, 19 September 2025 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), has established a collaboration with PT ifm Electronic Indonesia to strengthen the integration between education and the needs of modern industry. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on Thursday (September 18) at the FMIPA UI Administration Building, Universitas Indonesia Campus, Depok.
The agreement was signed by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., and the Director of PT ifm Electronic Indonesia, Ching Fum Ywee. Through this collaboration, both parties agreed to promote the development of higher education relevant to the era of Industry 4.0, while also expanding students’ access to the latest technologies in industrial automation and sensorics.

“This collaboration is part of FMIPA UI’s transformation into an educational and research institution that is more attuned to industrial dynamics,” said Prof. Dede. “We hope this partnership will strengthen educational and research laboratory facilities, particularly in the field of instrumentation physics systems. The goal, of course, is to support the development of student competencies while also enhancing the quality of research activities within FMIPA UI.”
In line with this, Ching Fum Ywee stated, “This collaboration aims to provide direct and real experience of what actually happens in the industrial world, going beyond the theories they learn in the classroom. In line with the Faculty’s vision of fostering innovation, we hope this partnership will serve as an initial foundation that will continue sustainably.” This statement was also affirmed by Jhon Afri Cryman, National Sales Manager, in the following remarks session.
As part of this collaboration, PT ifm Electronic Indonesia is providing product demonstration units and learning modules to be placed in the Instrumentation Physics Laboratory, Department of Physics, FMIPA UI. These facilities will be used in practical sessions for several courses in instrumentation physics, enabling students to directly interact with automation and sensor systems widely applied in the industrial sector.

In addition to the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, a Handover Minutes was also signed between PT ifm Electronic Indonesia, represented by Mr. Jhon Afri Cryman, National Sales Manager, and FMIPA UI, represented by the Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. Djati Handoko, and the Vice Dean for Resources, Enterprise, and General Administration, Prof. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si. This handover officially marked the delivery of facilities and equipment donated by PT ifm to FMIPA UI for educational and research purposes.
Beyond that, both institutions are committed to organizing various enrichment activities, such as seminars, workshops, and other knowledge transfer programs, which will be collaboratively designed and implemented.
This cooperation agreement is valid for three years from the date of signing and opens opportunities for further forms of collaboration, including joint curriculum development, internship programs, and applied research based on industry needs.

After the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, the management team of PT ifm Electronic Indonesia, accompanied by the Dean and the Head of the Department of Physics, made a direct visit to the Instrumentation Physics Laboratory at the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI. This visit aimed to directly review the laboratory equipment donated by PT ifm Electronic Indonesia.
