FMIPA UI Reinforces the Quality of Postgraduate Education Through Accreditation Assessment

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Indonesia (UI), conducted an on-site accreditation assessment for the Doctoral Programs in Physics and Chemical Sciences. The assessment was carried out by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) on January 26–27, 2026, as part of FMIPA UI’s commitment to maintaining academic quality and excellence in postgraduate education.

The assessment was attended by competent assessors from leading universities in Indonesia. For the Doctoral Program in Chemical Sciences, the assessors were Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Nurul Hidayat Aprilita (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and Dr.rer.nat. Rachmat Triandi Tjahjanto (Universitas Brawijaya). Meanwhile, the Doctoral Program in Physics was assessed by Prof. Drs. Arinto Yudi Ponco Wardoyo (Universitas Brawijaya) and Prof. Dr. Mashuri (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember).

The assessment comprised a series of sessions, ranging from the opening and introduction of the assessors to meetings with program leadership, internal quality assurance officers, the study program accreditation team, as well as alumni and external stakeholders. Each session was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of management and quality assurance systems, assess the achievements of the study programs, and obtain constructive feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.

In his remarks, the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., emphasized the importance of the assessment for the faculty’s development. “This on-site accreditation assessment is not merely a formality. It is an opportunity for FMIPA UI to reaffirm quality standards, strengthen research, and ensure that our postgraduate programs remain relevant to the needs of society and the scientific community. We hope that the assessors’ feedback will serve as guidance for improving the quality of our study programs in the future,” said the Dean.

FMIPA UI views this accreditation assessment as a strategic step to continuously enhance the quality of education, strengthen its academic reputation, and position the faculty as a leading center of science in Indonesia. The results of the assessment are expected to serve as a foundation for the development of more innovative, professional, and highly competitive postgraduate programs at both the national and international levels.
