The Center for Medical Physics and Biophysics (CMPB UI), one of the Applied Science Institutes (LST) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), officially received an ISO 17025 certificate as a testing laboratory from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) with accreditation number LP-1706-IDN.
This was conveyed by KAN through Accreditation Decree number 1573/3.a.1/LAB/11/2022 on November 28, 2022.
Previously, CMPB UI had undergone a series of field assessment activities on June 20-21, 2022, at FMIPA UI, Depok, as a follow-up to the application submitted by FMIPA UI in October 2021.
Head of CMPB UI, Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, Ph.D. explained his commitment to implementing quality management and technical implementation of the scope of General Radiography, Mobile Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Computerized Tomography in accordance with ISO17025:2017.
He emphasized that CMPB UI will certainly continue to prioritize its prime service, namely the implementation of testing in a professional, honest manner and maintaining integrity.
“In addition to being an effort to guarantee service quality, ISO 17025 accreditation is also an indicator of recognition and excellence which is a requirement for conducting Conformity Tests for testing institutions appointed by the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) such as CMPB UI,” said Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, Ph.D. as Head of CMPB UI to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.
To date, the public service institution previously under the auspices of the Medical Physics and Biophysics Laboratory (LFMB) of the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI, has organized numerous diagnostic and interventional radiology X-ray testing activities in many hospitals from Aceh to Papua, 6 training batches of qualified examiners for diagnostic and interventional radiology X-ray machines, 7 training batches of radiation protection officers. In addition, CMPB UI has also organized 9 training batches for Medical Physicists and 7 residency batches for specialist medical physicists.
“CMPB UI has been a testing laboratory that has provided training and radiology equipment suitability testing services to many partner hospitals since 2014 under the Medical Physics and Biophysics Laboratory unit,” he said.
Furthermore, the Center for Medical Physics and Biophysics (CMPB) of the Institute of Applied Sciences (LST) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia is given the right to use the KAN Accreditation Symbol in accordance with what is regulated in KAN U-03 concerning the Use of the KAN Accreditation Symbol and KAN U-01 concerning the Terms and Conditions for Accreditation of Conformity Assessment Agencies. The accreditation period is valid for 5 (five) years from November 28, 2022 – November 27, 2027, with the first surveillance scheduled between the 15th and 18th months, the second surveillance scheduled between the 36th and 39th months, the reassessment scheduled between the 51st and 54th months with the submission of a reaccreditation application along with other supporting documents to be submitted no later than the 48th month from November 28, 2022. The time interval between the implementation of surveillance/assessment and the previous visit is no more than 24 months.
