Short Biography

Mrs. Rahayu graduated with both Bachelor and Master Degree specialized in Natural Product Chemistry from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. She had completed a research project on the phytochemical study of sunflower (Helianthus annuus) leaves and their bioactivity as an antimalarial against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 strain and cytotoxic against Murine Leukemia P-388 cells during the final year of her Bachelor Degree. Moreover, in her Master Degree, she worked on isolating biflavonoids from leaves and twigs of Agathis robusta (Araucariaceae). These biflavonoids had been examined against Murine Leukemia P-388 cells, anti-angiogenesis as HUVEC proliferation inhibitor, KDR tyrosine kinase inhibitor as an anticancer, and also BACE-1 enzyme inhibitor as an anti-Alzheimer’s. In this project, she had a valuable opportunity to conduct part of her research in the Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry Division, Meiji Pharmaceutical University, Tokyo, Japan. She started her career as an Organic Chemistry Lecturer in Universitas Indonesia in 2015. Mrs. Rahayu is also a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
