The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) starting October 25, 2021 will implement face-to-face learning activities (PTM) or limited face-to-face lectures. This is in accordance with the mandate of the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs UI number ND-185 / UN2.R1 / PDP.00 / 2021 by referring to the instructions of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology through the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology as stated in Circular Letter Number 4 of 2021 concerning the implementation of face-to-face learning for the 2021/2022 academic year for universities in PPKM areas level 1, level 2, and level 3.
The limited face-to-face learning will be implemented while still adhering to health protocols, and prioritizing the health and safety of students, lecturers, education staff, and the community around the campus. FMIPA UI students who can take part in this PTM are students located in the Jabodetabek area.
To the public relations team, the FMIPA UI Education Manager, Dr. Ratna Yuniati explained the preparations that her team was making in welcoming the PTM activities, as well as to fulfill the provisions of PTM in the campus environment as conveyed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
“PTM preparation at FMIPA UI, does not only focus on theoretical courses conducted in class, but also the implementation of practical activities in the laboratory for modules that require motor activities so that they are less effective if carried out online,” said Dr. Ratna.
According to him, all of these preparations were carried out with reference to the technical instructions listed in the Official Note of the Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, FMIPA UI Number: ND-1690/UN2.F3.1/PDP/2021 concerning Technical Instructions for the Implementation of Mixed Courses for Odd Semester 2021/2022, dated September 10, 2021.
Some technical instructions that are the basis for implementing PTM preparations at FMIPA UI include: Lectures are held in classrooms in Buildings B and C, Blended course classes consist of 20 students, Offline sessions are a minimum of 2 times after the UTS, Lectures per day consist of 2 morning and afternoon sessions (maximum face-to-face duration of 90 minutes), and Implementation of the UAS in writing (offline), carried out on campus.
Furthermore, Dr. Ratna explained the requirements for students who will take part in face-to-face learning are to have parental permission, have been vaccinated, and be in good health. The same requirements also apply to lecturers, and education staff and laboratory assistants who help with PTM activities, namely being in good health and having been vaccinated.
The PTM preparation activities are carried out together with cross-units in FMIPA UI, namely academic units and facility units. Specifically for supervision, vigilance, and efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are carried out by the FMIPA UI K3L team in collaboration with the FMIPA UI COVID-19 Task Force.
Meanwhile, the Head of the K3L FMIPA UI team, Andi Eko Maryanto, said that he and his team had recommended points related to preventive measures for the spread of Covid-19 in the FMIPA UI environment to the authorized leaders so that they could be followed up as a basis for assigning tasks to related parties in implementing the preparations.
“In this case, we were asked by the leadership to recommend measures to prevent the spread of Covid, later the leadership will assign the relevant parties to implement it, and we have submitted all of that to the authorized leadership,” said Andi.
The points of action to prevent the spread of Covid-19 that have been recommended by the FMIPA UI K3L team to the relevant leaders are:
– Disinfecting facilities and infrastructure in the FMIPA UI environment before and after lecture activities, focusing on facilities used during PTM
– Conduct body temperature checks for everyone who enters the college
– Avoid using closed learning facilities, causing crowds and close contact.
– Provide hand washing facilities/hand sanitizers in strategic locations
– Limiting the use of space to a maximum of 50 percent of the room or class or laboratory occupancy capacity.
– Providing temporary isolation rooms for academics and education personnel who have symptoms of Covid-19
– Preparing a mechanism for handling findings of Covid-19 cases in the university environment (both the person concerned and contact tracing)
– Prepare emergency action support for handling Covid-19 – Report to the FMIPA UI Covid-19 handling task force to be forwarded to the local task force if a Covid-19 case is found.
“There will also be officers who stand by in areas where crowds are likely to form, so that if a crowd forms in that area either before or after lecture activities, it will be immediately dispersed,” he added.
In its implementation, students, lecturers and education staff are required to use the PeduliLindungi application to be able to enter the lecture building or the laboratory where the practicum is carried out.
