On Monday (December 3), 60 students from the Geology and Geophysics study program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), visited the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) office on Jl. Pramuka, East Jakarta.
The group, accompanied by Muhammad Rizqy Septyandy, a lecturer in the geology study program, was warmly welcomed by Mohamad Robi Amri, Head of the Mitigation Sub-Directorate.
Andy explained that the aim of his students’ visit was to sharing knowledge in order to broaden students’ insight into disaster management in the work environment related to geology and geophysics.
Furthermore, Andy continued, this activity represents a form of coordination between the government and universities.

The visit began with a discussion on disaster management lessons learned. The learning continued with a visit to the Operations Control Center (Pusdalop).
The participants were very enthusiastic about visiting the Pusdalop. Mohamad Robi Amri explained that the Pusdalops plays a crucial role and is the frontline for gathering information in disaster-affected areas. The Operations Control Center (Pusdalop), he continued, is tasked with conveying the incident to the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to issue an official statement immediately after a disaster using various communication channels.
In addition to visiting the Operations Control Center (Pusdalop), participants also had the opportunity to visit the Disaster Preparedness Monitoring (Pastigana) and the Disaster Diorama at the Data, Information, and Public Relations Center (Pusdatinmas).
