FMIPA UI and FMIPA UM Agree to Establish Collaboration in Research and Education

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), signed a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Malang (FMIPA UM), on Wednesday (October 1), at the FMIPA UI Administration Center, UI Campus, Depok.

The signing was carried out directly by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., and the Dean of FMIPA UM, Prof. Dr. Hadi Suwono, M.Si., in a warm atmosphere filled with a spirit of collaboration at the FMIPA UI Administration Center building.

This collaboration encompasses the strengthening of the implementation of the *Tri Dharma* of higher education, particularly in the areas of research, education, and community service.

“This collaboration opens up broader opportunities for academic partnership. We believe that FMIPA UM has research strengths that can be synergized with our laboratory capacities,” said Prof. Dede in his remarks.

Prof. Hadi shared the same sentiment, warmly welcoming this interfaculty collaboration initiative. He described the partnership as a positive step toward expanding the impact of science within society.

“We aim to bring FMIPA UM’s research and development experience to contribute to fostering meaningful innovations,” he said.

After an introductory session and a brief dialogue on each faculty’s vision and flagship programs, the two leaders officially signed the cooperation documents, marked by a group photo session and an exchange of souvenirs.

The agenda then continued with a visit to the Geophysics Laboratory of FMIPA UI, located within the Parangtopo Laboratory area—one of FMIPA UI’s leading research facilities. During the visit, both parties engaged in a technical discussion on potential future research collaborations, including opportunities for shared use of laboratory infrastructure and the development of inter-institutional research programs.

FMIPA UI hopes that this partnership will mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration capable of delivering tangible contributions to the advancement of science and the improvement of higher education quality in Indonesia.
