FMIPA UI – BPS West Java Sign Cooperation Agreement to Provide Statistics Corner

Depok, Wednesday (November 2, 2022). The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) and the West Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS) have established a collaboration to provide, utilize, and develop statistical data and information within the Tridharma of Higher Education by establishing a Statistics Corner.

The collaboration initiated by the Department of Mathematics and BPS is stated in the Cooperation Agreement signed by the Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., and the Head of BPS West Java Province Marsudijono S.Si., M.M. in the Sinarmas Hall, Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina, UI Campus, Depok.

In his remarks, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., stated that statistical data support is crucial in fulfilling the demands of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Research activities, the Dean stated, are inextricably linked to the need for real-world data.

“Often, this data is already available at BPS, but we haven’t accessed it. Besides research, this crucial data is also needed in the educational process and in mapping community service activities,” said Dede Djuhana, Ph.D.

He further said that with the initiation of the Statistics Corner, the use of statistical literacy services can be more widely open to the FMIPA UI academic community for higher education tridharma activities.

“In addition, the establishment of the Statistics Corner at FMIPA UI can be a vehicle for work practice that is rich in learning for students and lecturers,” said Marsudijono.

Meanwhile, Marsudijono S.Si., M.M., explained that the Statistics Corner is a collaborative service between the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and universities. This activity demonstrates BPS’s commitment to disseminating the variety and benefits of statistical products produced by the agency within universities. Through the Statistics Corner, it is hoped that statistical literacy and utilization within universities will increase.

“We also thank the leadership of FMIPA UI and its staff for supporting our efforts to present a statistics corner at FMIPA UI. We hope that the presence of the statistics corner can provide maximum benefits for the FMIPA UI academic community and also for all audiences,” said Marsudijono closing his remarks.

After the signing, both parties conducted a review of the statistics corner location in the area of Building C, FMIPA UI.
