Depok, Thursday (11/1/2018) coinciding with its 57th anniversary, FMIPA UI signed a cooperation agreement with the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN). The signing was carried out by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris and Dr. Orbita Roswintiarti, M.Sc. as Deputy for Remote Sensing of LAPAN.
This collaboration relates to the development of data science and technology and the use of remote sensing for monitoring natural resources and the environment. The scope of this collaboration includes the development of remote sensing data acquisition, processing, management, and utilization.
The signing of the cooperation agreement is the realization of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between UI and LAPAN. Inthe Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)between UI and LAPAN, the cooperation is related to education, research, and community service, as well as the development and utilization of aviation and space science and technology. The scope of the cooperation is related to various main research activities carried out by LAPAN. These activities are research, development, and utilization of remote sensing technology, space and atmospheric science, and aviation technology. Furthermore, this cooperation also includes increasing human resource capacity, expert exchanges, and scientific dissemination and publication.
“So, there will befacility sharing, with UI students able to use LAPAN’s laboratory facilities and vice versa. LAPAN staff can also pursue their Master’s and Doctoral degrees at UI, butwith a research-based approach, focusing directly on specific research. LAPAN experts can also serve as mentors orsupervisorsfor UI students completing their undergraduate or graduate theses,” the UI Chancellor explained.
