The continuous efforts of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), in ensuring the quality of educational services have once again received international recognition through the successful re-certification of ISO 9001:2015, awarded by PT DQS Certification Indonesia for the 2025–2028 period.
The announcement of re-certification eligibility was delivered directly by PT DQS Certification Indonesia auditor, Annas Sangadji, during the re-certification closing meeting held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the main meeting room of FMIPA UI, Depok.
“Based on the results of the two-day audit, we declare that FMIPA UI is eligible to obtain ISO 9001:2015 re-certification,” said Annas Sangadji, which was met with enthusiasm by the faculty leadership and the FMIPA UI ISO team.
Annas noted that this achievement cannot be separated from the commitment of the leadership and all organizational elements in implementing an effective and sustainable quality management system.
In his remarks, the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., expressed his appreciation and gratitude for FMIPA UI’s success in once again obtaining this certification. He stated that the results of the external audit reflect the dedication and hard work of the entire FMIPA UI academic community in maintaining excellent service quality.
“I extend my deepest gratitude and highest appreciation to the entire team who contributed to this re-certification process. This is the result of our collective work and shared commitment,” he said.
Furthermore, Prof. Dede reminded that the completion of the audit process is not the finish line, but rather the beginning of a continuous responsibility to maintain and improve quality. He emphasized that obtaining re-certification does not mean the task of ensuring quality is over, but instead serves as motivation to keep making improvements, refining systems, and upholding quality in all aspects of academic and non-academic services.

According to Annas, one of FMIPA UI’s main strengths lies in the commitment of the faculty leadership to improving service quality, particularly in paying attention to student welfare as its customers.
“One concrete form of this effort is the management of a learning environment that supports students’ mental health through the Student Counseling Body (BKM). This service plays an important role in addressing psychological issues such as stress, burnout, and providing emotional protection for students,” said Annas.
Annas conveyed several recommendations for continuous improvement at FMIPA UI. One of them is the integration of two ISO amendments related to climate change into the FMIPA UI QMS Manual Document, in line with the ISO Climate Change Declaration (London, February 2024). These amendments emphasize assessing the relevance of climate change issues to the organization’s context and stakeholder expectations.
He also highlighted the need to improve the evaluation of quality target achievements (KOKIN), particularly by adding root cause analysis before determining corrective actions. The use of electronic forms in internal audits is considered to help speed up the resolution of findings before the Management Review Meeting.
Other recommendations include establishing risk and opportunity assessment standards that take into account business processes, internal–external issues, and stakeholder expectations. FMIPA UI is also advised to provide monitoring data on the BKM counseling program to evaluate its effectiveness for students.
Customer satisfaction monitoring was considered good through questionnaires, but it can be further improved with other methods such as a “Customer Feedback on Delivered Services” system, where the absence of complaints within 2×24 hours is regarded as customer satisfaction.
Finally, FMIPA UI is expected to complete the input agenda for the Management Review in accordance with Clause 9.3.2 and ensure that its outputs comply with Clause 9.3.3.
FMIPA UI’s success in obtaining ISO 9001:2015 re-certification serves as good news marking the conclusion of the entire series of quality improvement activities, ranging from awareness refreshment, internal audits, to the Management Review Meeting. This achievement not only reaffirms FMIPA UI’s consistency in implementing a quality management system, but also provides a strong foundation to keep moving forward in delivering excellent, sustainable, and stakeholder-oriented educational services.
