FMIPA UI Encourages Youth Interest in Science through UI Open Days 2025

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) once again participated in the annual UI Open Days 2025 event held on May 3–4, 2025, at Balairung, UI Campus Depok. This event serves as a strategic opportunity for FMIPA UI to introduce a variety of study programs, admission pathways, tuition fees, campus life, and career prospects to prospective students and the general public.

During the two-day event, the FMIPA UI booth was crowded with visitors, most of whom were high school students seeking references for continuing their higher education. FMIPA UI provided comprehensive information about the 24 study programs offered, ranging from undergraduate (S1), master’s (S2), professional, to doctoral (S3) levels. Three newest programs were also introduced: the Doctoral Program in Mathematics, the Medical Physicist Professional Program, and the Doctoral Program in Geography.

“We hope this UI Open Days event serves as a bridge for prospective students to get to know FMIPA UI directly and comprehensively,” said Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., who attended the event’s opening. He emphasized the importance of having accurate information as a foundation for choosing an educational path that aligns with one’s potential.

The atmosphere of the event was further enlivened by the presence of UI’s Top Outstanding Student 2024, Adnan Hasyim Wibowo, from the Geophysics Study Program at FMIPA UI. In an inspiring talk show session, Adnan shared his journey during the admission selection process at Universitas Indonesia, as well as valuable experiences he gained throughout his academic and organizational life on campus. His passionate story served as a special motivation for the visitors present.

Not only through the open booth, FMIPA UI also held a presentation session on the second day, delivered by FMIPA UI’s Public Relations Coordinator, Annisa Nurul Fitri. In her presentation, Annisa highlighted FMIPA UI’s strengths at the national and international levels, the achievements of its academic community, scientific innovations, and extensive academic collaborations. She also emphasized that FMIPA UI graduates have broad and flexible career prospects, even beyond the disciplines they studied.

“What is learned at FMIPA UI is not only theory or formulas but also critical and systematic thinking skills that are applicable across various sectors, from laboratories to startups and even public policy,” explained Annisa.

UI Open Days 2025 was attended by all faculties, schools, and vocational education programs within Universitas Indonesia, featuring activities such as open booths, study program presentations, campus tours using the yellow bus, as well as bazaars and exhibitions of UI’s flagship products. The event was officially opened by the Head of the UI Cooperation and Entrepreneurship Agency, Dr. drg. Nia Ayu Ismaniati, MDSc., SpOrt.(K), who stated that the high enthusiasm of visitors reflects UI’s position as one of the top destinations for higher education in Indonesia.
