Today, Thursday (January 31), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Indonesia held a graduation ceremony and celebration for the fall semester of the 2018/2019 academic year at the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building Auditorium, FMIPA UI-Pertamina, UI Campus, Depok. A total of 297 graduates were conferred degrees at this event, comprising 212 undergraduate program graduates, 80 master’s program graduates, and 5 doctoral program graduates.
This fall semester graduation ceremony also marked a significant milestone for the undergraduate programs in Geology and Statistics at FMIPA UI, as both programs produced their first graduates since their establishment in 2015.
In the 2018/2019 academic year graduation, 44 undergraduate program graduates achieved the cum laude distinction with the highest GPA of 3.96, earned by Grady Christanto from the Mathematics undergraduate program. Meanwhile, from the master’s program, 32 graduates achieved the cum laude distinction, with the highest GPA of 3.99 achieved by Ahmad Husein Alkaff and Dwi Febriantini, both from the Master of Chemistry program.
The cum laude distinction was also achieved by doctoral graduates, namely Askal Maimulyanti (PhD in Chemistry) with a GPA of 3.94 and Santhyami (PhD in Biology) with a GPA of 3.92.
With this achievement, Grady Christanto, Ahmad Husein Alkaff, Askal Maimulyanti, and Dwi Febriantini successfully joined the ranks of the best graduates of FMIPA UI along with 18 others.
Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, Dean of FMIPA UI and ceremony leader, expressed his pride in the achievements of the graduates in his speech. He also urged them to continue developing themselves amid globalization, leveraging their academic knowledge—particularly through research—to produce technology and innovation.
According to him, this is to enhance contributions in addressing various national issues. However, Haris emphasized that regardless of their profession, graduates must be able to contribute positively to the nation. He also hoped that graduates would maintain ties with fellow alumni and the broader FMIPA UI community through all available media, from social media to communication forums.
